McAtee a doubt.

Couple of striker deals thwarted for different reasons.

Yeah watched it earlier.

Hurst said he thinks County have had more possession than anyone else in games this season and there will be times when our fans might need to be patient, he expects County to have large spells with the ball.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I wonder if Grant might be available, probably only on the bench,  but he might be an option.

Why? We have Clifton Hunt and Fox great passers of the ball we are top of the league and at home it’s their fans should be being patient!

Possibly as Hurst only mentioned McAtee as a doubt and Scannell as injured.

I know he has been training and hopefully, he will be fit enough to play some part. We could do with an extra attacker right now.

I thought it was interesting what he said about will they press or sit off them. I think we’ve looked better when we’ve pressed this season to be honest.

We look a lot better doing it when McAtee sets the tone and leads from the front - it will be more difficult without his energy.

That said, I still have a hunch he will play…

I wonder if the League One player was from a team not too far away from here

Just seen Macatee on Instagram with a knee brace on, I'm doubting we'll see him on the pitch on Saturday personally.
The Grant one I can see, Hurst certainly mentioned Scannell as being the only one of the injured duo(him n Grant) not being available, be interesting to see Grant too.

All being well McAtee’s scan will just show soft tissue damage and though we potentially won’t see him on Saturday he’ll be all good for the next league game.

I’d be pretty confident without either McAtee or Taylor but with them both out it’s going to be a challenge but we’ve had plenty of other scorers this season and when Hunt plays are set pieces are opportunities.

Keep us shape and who knows, even if we ended up with a 0 - 0 and losing top spot it wouldn’t be a disaster in October.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the pics of training on Twitter earlier. They could have shown him watching from a hospital bed at pitchside with a full body cast on and I’d think it was Hurst mind games.

Can't you return to normal after 7 days providing you are ok?

Maybe this "they are definitely out of the Notts game" is all mind games too and we will see Taylor somewhere on the teamsheet Saturday?

Typical Hursty interview. Tells you most of the obvious things but not the detail. He didn't say anything the Notts manager wouldn't be aware of, so he gave nothing away. I wouldn't be surprised if McAtee plays a part in the game unless his injury is that bad.

Could Mcatee play, have an impact but then be taken off? We’ve not got a league game for a fortnight after this so plenty of recovery time.

Like all teams, we look less effective with our key players missing but also, a defeat on Tuesday has left folk feeling a little tentative which is understandable. We know we can’t win every game but we also know we have a squad that will work hard, die for the cause and grind out results.

Personally, if we’re gonna lose a couple, losing them in October is significantly better than losing them with 10 games to go and we’re in the run in…

Surely Mcatee needs resting tomorrow as hard as it is to take. We don’t want to totally knacker his knee and him then being out for weeks…..we should have enough to make a fist of it….UTM!!

Wonder how Hurst will play this without McAtee (presuming it's not just a smokescreen).

Obvious option is to play Bapaga in that free role with Sousa and Wright high and wide.  But then I think he'll also want to bring Clifton and Hunt back into the fold, especially considering we're going to be without McAtee's energy.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's a more 4-3-3 type system with Clifton joining Hunt and Fox in the middle, any two of Bapaga/Sousa/Wright wide of Lenny.

As much as I don’t want to rest McAtee, would we be resting him if we had a slightly less ‘glamorous’ fixture like Altrincham at home (one below Notts in table)?

The answer is absolutely yes, we can’t risk him if it’s going to put him out for weeks afterwards. The only reason I’d have for playing him is we’ve a cup weekend next week.

The positives are we look strong in midfield and defence, that alone could see us through tomorrow but we’ll need a bit of luck up top IMO

If Bapaga and Sousa supply the crosses which in Sousas case are often promised but not always delivered then hopefully sufficient chances will come the big fellas way and this time he must surely convert one or two. Could well be enough as the back 4 are still intact.

With Hurst's new found sense of humour in interviews, and give nowt away attitude,  I would not be at all surprised if there was a rabbit ( or 2) waiting to jump onto tomorrow's team sheet.

I will be amazed if McAtee is risked, but there could be other surprises even if no loan player comes in at the 11th hour.

Just my take on how he addressed the pre match talk.

89th minute. 0-0. Bapaga draws a foul in the penalty area. The referee, until then woefully biased towards the away team reluctantly points to the spot.

He's definitely not ready.  Promising but not at all what we need.  Taylor has been so successful (aside from his goals) because he's brought others into play and made it stick up top.  It's what we want and need LJL to do.  Reading the comments, it's the failure to do this more than his lack of clinical finishing that is the gripe.

Essel looks to be of the Ahkeem Rose type.  Needs a bigger man to work off.

Tuesday was the only occasion when Lennie has been isolated for most of the game. Granted his first touch was often poor, but it’s totally different from the other games when he missed chances.

I think he's only 16 isn't he?

He looks a lot younger....... the few glimpses of him suggest that he wouldn't be ready to be thrown in, under Holloway though he'd have probably started tomorrow under Hurst he'll be brought in at the right time in the right manner.

for what its worth i dont think Mcatee will be anywhere near playing tomorrow. He left Wealdstone on Crutches

No chance he'll be playing then, probably not even made it past Cambridge by now.

Looking forward to a brighter future now Fenty has gone.

I agree, when did the 10 isolation begin?

This is what intrigues me to be honest, I also didn’t realise it was still ten days or is that some football league thing? I’ve given up even arsing myself to take an interest now.

The club never gave any indication of when, and rightly so, the ones with Covid started their isolation…for all we know, their ten days could be up today for instance…

he's got to have the support though Swin, he was woefully isolated on Tuesday

Not sure how you can be isolated when your team has 81% of the possession and is camped in the opponents half as was the case on Tuesday

Rabbits
Grant in the Mcatee role.
One of the COVID players back earlier then the others ,unlikely they all tested positive on the same day.

Would be crazy to risk McAtee breaking down, he doesn't have to play next week either.

Personally would play Bapaga & Sousa wide with Hunt the more advanced of a midfield three with Clifton and Fox.

There was still no bugga near him most of the time. Apart from Wealdstone players that is.

We look a lot better doing it when McAtee sets the tone and leads from the front - it will be more difficult without his energy.

That said, I still have a hunch he will play…

The way he was limping on Tuesday I’d be very surprised. I do hope I’m wrong though.

Agree about McAtee and Hunt being more advanced, would like whoever is playing up front close to LJL.

For about the first time this season I am not too confident. The forward line does look weak to me tomorrow. No shortage of effort but a clear lack of quality. Getting strikers is very difficult but I feel that we have been in this position for a while now. Maybe one of the youth can step up but without Mc Atee I wonder who will run the channels and make life difficult.
I hope I am proven very wrong here and will be glad !. We got the breaks against Yeovil but did not look dangerous. I would start Wright and Sousa ( Bapaga on the bench this time as an impact sub) . Coke will play I am sure to break up play and he is better at this than going forward. A win tomorrow would be a great result in my opinion and my money is on a tight draw utm

How long to self-isolate

If you test positive, your self-isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day you had the test, if you did not have symptoms) and the next 10 full days.

We have goals from quite a few players this season so we are capable of scoring without McAtee and Taylor to a degree anyway.

The big things for me would be if he plays Coke how can he get Hunt & Fox in as those 2 are essential tomorrow.

I just wonder if we’ll see a diamond in midfield with Fox at the base, Hunt the tip, Clifton on the left and Sousa right. Then LJL and Bapaga up top.

I agree there, it's been said before but it's like the Gerrard lampard combo, just doesn't work.

89th minute. 0-0. Bapaga draws a foul in the penalty area. The referee, until then woefully biased towards the away team reluctantly points to the spot.

Up steps Lenny……

Insert your own ending…..

......and he hits it high and hard to the centre of the goal. The keeper dives to the right, clearly beaten. He looks upwards only to see the ball hit the crossbar and rebound towards Towns goal, with Macca having moved upto the halfway line in readiness for Lenny celebration. The ball flies over his head as he starts to sprint back to his goal. Tripping over his laces he faceplants the ground only look up to see the ball slowly trickle over the goal line.

Think Revan will play in front of Crookes, Sousa in front of Sears, Bapaga in the McAtee role and Coke, Fox and Hunt in midfield if Clifton isn’t fit. It’s only one game in a long season and with FA Cup next week, it gives players like McAtee and Clifton extra recuperation time. More minutes played over the season in the long run..

Unless Revan has made massive strides forward in training, I don’t think he’s ready for a starting role with us yet. Yes he scored twice at Bromsgrove which was great but at Stockport he looked like a boy playing a mans game, he still needs easing in IMO

Are we playing with 12, then? Or are you leaving out LJL from that line-up? That's 5 midfielders you've named!

But when did symptoms start? If it was the Tuesday then they can play 👀
Bizarrely a child at the school I work at did a test on a Monday, results didn't come through so he did another on the Sunday. They both came back positive but he was allowed to come back to school by the Thursday even though he still had covid 🤔

You are assuming of course that, should the isolation period be over, those who had had Covid will feel well enough to play anyway. Not everyone automatically feels 100% the day the required isolation period (however long) expires.

The ones isolating may not all of had covid, some maybe aren't double jabbed and have just had to isloate having been in contact with said player.

I could be wrong of course and several players may of all had it but it wouldn't suprise me to see one of them back today.

One of the few things I’ve seen from the much heralded Pep that’s impressed me is the ability to win games without a recognised frontman . I am hoping Hurst can copy this format with a quick interchanging three pronged attack.
