Well the positives were that it seems nobody decided to run on the pitch or damage anything so that was a bonus. Crowd seemed a bit more subdued than usual, probably felt the game was far below them so refused to get fully invested in it. They may have even managed to go a whole matchday without terrorising the locals.

I don’t think that has been done anywhere this season Kris.

And I doubt anyone there thought the game was far below them. If they did, they wouldn’t have gone. So it’s a deux points from the Kingston jury.

I think Bromsgrove can feel hard done by with the Longe-King goal. The camera angles aren't great but it looked like the keeper clearly saved it to me.

Once the third went in though, I found the game a bit boring and was easily distracted.

Bit disrespectful to those that spent their hard earned making the trip, as many do every 2nd weekend and a fair few Tuesday nights. Like any club we have an element who don’t behave especially when they’ve had a few, but it’s a minority.

Whoever let the flare/smoke bomb off clearly belongs to the “minority” and is a complete 🛎 🔚

Well I watched the camera replays and how you can make an opinion I find amazing as the angles were that bad you couldn’t see anything. The telling point for me was that the Bromsgrove players didn’t odject that much.

It was a foot over the line . Their keeper dived backwards . I saw it clearly .

so will bromsgrove get fined for the piro that was set off in the home end, talking too a few BS fans in the pub prior too the game they said they have flares every home game and said we may get a shock at how volatile they are. i get the feeling that because alls good on the field some people just need something to complain about ,bar the flair(which by the way wasnt thrown onto the pitch and caused no issues in the 30secs it was alight, Town fans were very well behaved today even showing tollerance at the end when the stewards refused to let us out for some bizzare reason

Setting off a smoke bomb after scoring a late winner at Lincoln in the FA Cup would be just plain stupid...

Setting off a smoke bomb to celebrate a goal from a penalty to go 4-0 up against a team 50 places below us is beyond ridiculous...in fact, I hope it was ironic because at least there would be some kind of warped intelligence behind an otherwise irresponsible act, if not, I don't want anyone that sad to be a Grimsby fan...

I just cannot understand how some seem to suggest it wasn't that bad to set off a flare.

Fans who set off flares at football matches are complete w@nkers and should be banned for a very long time.

it wasnt that bad because because it was a rubbish flare that was extinguished quickly and caused no harm,i was stood about 15ft from it and nobody said a word, just like nobody on here highlighted the fact that flares were also set off in the home end, green smoke if my memory serves me right,if some sad muppet has wasted his hard earnt on that flare then maybe hes learnt his lesson, but we need to just calm down about it

That smoke isn’t going to do anyone’s health any good. People with lung conditions can be seriously affected. This isn’t news to anyone so whoever it was is an ignorant selfish little shīt.

As for smoke bombs in their end, that’s equally reprehensible. I didn’t notice any on telly. Maybe others didn’t which partly accounts got the lack of comments. Besides we can’t do anything about them.

Maybe it seems we are making fuss over nothing, but the club have made a statement about pitch incursions which are illegal and so are Pyros. In that statement, they said that these incidents affect decisions on KO times and ticket allocations. In an earlier thread I said in my opinion we, Gy fans, are being unfairly picked on compared to other clubs with KO times - like a lower division Leeds or Millwall. I still think that and actually what the club have said confirms it. Other clubs' fans set off pyros (SUFC at BP) and I am sure there are minor pitch incursions somewhere most weekends. However, we are stuck with the reputation and being picked on as a result and I'd like us not to be.

Early KOs for home games are complete pain for me as an exile. For away games they are pain for most of us.

Bunch of young lads did it right and threw it down right next to what looked a dad out with his young kids.. fortunately they took it in good spirit.

Crowd very subdued today, have to be honest.. it's a game we don't want to play as we want to be entering in the first round proper.

Did see a lad get set on by the Bromsgrove fans in the town after the match. Was really surprised at the way the police set out, seemingly uninterested and just watching the world go. Seemed daft as it was presumably the police that asked for us to be kept behind in the ground but didn't do anything when we 'broke out'

I don't quite get this......if you watched it on TV , the angle was far from conclusive,  if you were at the ground it was at the other end....

The ref clearly looked across to the assistant/ linesman before giving it....as it was a set piece and the linesman was up with it....

Then...goal all day

As stupid as the flare was, the attempted lock in could have been far more dangerous. Nothing was relayed over the tannoy about waiting a few minutes to allow home fans to disperse as sometimes happens when home and away fans egress onto the same busy road. The stewards allowed us to start moving towards the large gates then closed them! They had too few stewards/ Police to prevent us from simply opening one of them.

A chap carrying a toddler got involved with some of the stewards for the dangerous situation they created.
Fortunately most people were ambling out and no crush happened. Whoever made the decision to hold us back made a complete pig's ear of it. An orderly exit was turned into a potential flashpoint, Poor planning and zero communication.

I actually enjoyed the freedom to stroll around almost half of the ground, get a coffee, go to a loo with no queues and attend a rare F.A. Cup match on a balmy afternoon. Up to the point of leaving, I thought our hosts had done a fine job but the mini chaos at full time nearly tarnished it.

There is a photo out there somewhere from a photographer behind the goal that clearly shows the ball 2 foot over the line, so must have been clearly seen by the linesman, so no doubt at all. I just hope that someone sends a copy to that useless pair of commentators who kept banging on about it but hardly mentioned the earlier penalty we should have had.

But it is important, flares have w flame and I’d agree, are dangerous…so would a pair of my adidas trainers after a trip on the continent…smoke bombs are essentially that, coloured smoke…it makes a significant difference.

I guess this is our new thing; clubs doing well, teams doing well…must find something to moan about…

I’d agree with the poster RE: the gate situation at the end, the tannoy wasn’t really very clear and then to be greeted with a locked gate as people were under the assumption they could leave did cause a potential flare up…

I just hope that someone sends a copy to that useless pair of commentators who kept banging on about it but hardly mentioned the earlier penalty we should have had.

The photo is by Lee Blease and its on his twitter and clearly shows the ball at least a ft over the line, cracking spot by an otherwise useless ref

I’d agree with the poster RE: the gate situation at the end, the tannoy wasn’t really very clear and then to be greeted with a locked gate as people were under the assumption they could leave did cause a potential flare up

Very clever…

This is a regular thing here , they call it atmosphere and no one seems to get hurt and no one seems to get to too upset,
I know it’s a different culture and we have to follow the rules or this kind of thing will become inevitable but pretending a smoke bomb from the local joke shop is some kind of lethal object is going a little far

The ref seemed to spend a lot of time on his watch after the goal line goal . I reckon he thought he had goal line technology 😬. Or was pretending he did 😃

[quote=140612]Whoever let the Flare off at today's game , you are a sad pathetic individual with obvious issues . Grow up or go support another team [/quote
It wasn't exactly a "flare" was it though... More of a joke shop smoke bomb. I think you overacting, to be honest.

No team will be fined for letting off a low profile smoke bomb unless it was thrown onto the pitch, or causes a high visual disruption like the ones at Borussia Dortmund.

If anything, low profile smoke bombs add to the environment if used correctly.

Some people on here love over-reacting don't they.

I remember Altrincham away last time in the national League and a pyro got thrown on the pitch and the game got briefly stopped and I remember people posting on here saying things like "we're going to get all our points deducted" I think somebody even said once that we might get demoted 3 or 4 leagues

Same with the fans stepping 3 or 4 yards onto the pitch when we score and people are saying we are going to get points deducted etc.

I am more than aware that both of these are illegal and I am not saying either are ok, I just don't get the massive overreaction, anybody would think those guilty had committed murder!

Pyros and pitch invasions where goals are scored happen at most clubs, it's not just a Grimsby problem.

Perhaps this is the new thing to moan about…we’re doing well and the club has new owners with fresh ideas. We’re preprogrammed to moan so this is the new thing.

The over reaction is hilarious…I’m still waiting for someone to say people could die…

Oh I remember people saying that back in the day that eventually somebody die as a result of a pyro, there are hundreds of pyros across all the leagues every weekend and I am yet to see the news that somebody has died as a result

Yes, but we have a bad reputation  GTFC have kind of said so, although not in those words

these regular disturbances could have significant ramifications on the club as well as the individuals involved. These include impacting our arguments when trying to maintain as many 3pm kick-offs as possible, receiving full allocations from away clubs as well as the numbers of stewards allocated to our supporters on away fixtures.

Why did Wednesday v Bolton KO at 3 pm the other day - 60 mile trip, plenty of trains, 3k away fans. Halifax v Grimsby Boxing Day no trains 12.30 KO...

It's almost like our fans are on probation - minor stuff at other clubs happens without a consequence, for us its something else for police authorities to point at when insisting on incoveniencing the vast majority,

Not just in this country either…literally happened at every single game on the continent…never a death.

My missus is not a football fan in the slightest but when she reluctantly came to the Derby Della Lanterna she thought the coloured smoke bombs were mega…KO was delayed, atmosphere was electric and nobody died…

It’s the new over reaction. There’s literally no evidence to suggest the club will get points deductions or huge fines…intercourse all else to moan about…
