Can someone help answer me a question please dear fishy friends!! On Saturday morning I checked the GTFC Twitter which said 6000 seats had been issued.  Also I have just read the Dover website reaction which reckon they had over 60 fans (which there looked to be) yet we declared there were 25! Our official attendance was 5913 so can someone please help my mystery!! Cheers

Not all season ticket holders can attend every game and so are not included in the attendance.

It's tickets issued not tickets sold. I think we're probably giving a decent amount to local schools and charities and not everyone who gets one will then attend. There aren't hundreds of season ticket holders not attending every week.

I have a season ticket, it's scanned and counted as 1 when i enter the ground, i couldn't make it yesterday so i wouldn't be counted as part of the attendance, they assume before hand that all the season ticket holders would turn up and then add to that total all the tickets sold, that's how they knew 6,000 plus had been sold, but with the weather some season ticket holders and perhaps some bought ticket holders never turned up.

The bloke next to me was amazed how many fans Dover had brought, I had to explain

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

There are always quite a few reserved seats not filled each game in the Upper Young's.

I know an exile who has a season ticket but only makes a handful of games each season.

A Dover fan on the football forum recons they had 42 in the away end, but there were issues with ticket scanners not working properly, 25 is probably the number that actually got scanned in.

I saw something on Twitter where a Dover supporter got the train up and when he got to Lincoln he had to get a taxi to BP as his train was cancelled, it cost him £120, some dedication that !

Im not sure there were more than 25 dover fans. Are we perhaps forgetting that we opened the Osmond to home fans?

would make no difference to hmrc what the actual attendance was. Its how many were sold and the income received that matters.

They did have block D in the Osmond for sale on line to both home and away fans for a short while online. . So if any Dover fans purchased tickets for block D they would have been moved to the corner block with the rest (25) of the Dover fans.

This probably what happened.

My Dad and I are season ticket holders and with us both walking with sticks the stewards let us through the door rather than the turnstiles. We show our season ticket cards but they don’t get scanned, there’s quite a lot of others come in like this which will make a difference? I must say we are very grateful for this treatment as my father would struggle with the turnstiles.

Some of those in the away section could have been Dover  staff/players partners and friends on ‘free tickets’ etc and maybe they don’t count, officially. Not sure.

Should there not be a system were season tickets holders who can’t attend make their tickets available to the club. The st holder could receive a £15 discount on next year’s renewal and the club make another 6/7 pounds.

I think this has been suggested to the club and I like to think the club are looking into how it should be implemented.

I agree Dapperz, it’s a little disappointing when we’ve been told 6000 tickets have been shifted…….

At this rate I could miss 10 games - watch 13 - get £150 rebate which would pay for my S.T. next season

To be fair I’d expect  most season  ticket holders that can’t make a game offer it to a mate for free
