I wondered if anybody else read JF in the GL :-

"One side note is that the Mariners will be stopping along the way to Maidenhead on Friday for training – will Hurst be doing a bit of shopping for a new striker while on their travels?"

If they traveled to Maidenhead today it must mean that they are staying overnight. I always thought that this sort of journey was done on matchday morning; as opposed to the Torquay/Eastleigh's etc.

It looks like the club is extending the new culture in a very professional way.

Saw this earlier and thought this probably wouldn’t have happened under the previous regime. I say ‘probably’, it just wouldn’t.

Instead of spending on big names, it looks like Town are spending more wisely, prematch preparation for away games.

You are quite correct Poojah, it would never have happened in the last 17 years.

When did fancy training pitches surrounded by trees get you 3 points on a Saturday?

Interesting that this sort of preparation was one of the reasons Hurst left in the first place.

Met with Hurst a few times, whislt he was here first time and after; we all remember the typical 1-0 away win at Cambridge…apparently Hurst had asked Warrington to take the mini bus with balls etc forms light session pre game on a park in Cambridge given there’s little space at the ground for proper warm up etc.

On the Monday, Fenty nipped in as he always did to see him, never mentioned the result and just moaned about the bus being used etc…I’m sure Fenty’s chums will argue the truth but it’s a flipping weird thing for Hurst to make up.

This is the sort of investment we’ve always spoken about…sadly the previous regime just assumed that investment meant cash…this isn’t just about money, it’s effort, desire and investment in the squad, developing them and preparing properly for games.

It won’t always work but with results being super important, it can’t do any harm..

Why you crediting 1878 with this? John explained to us all last weekend that he's still funding the club.

Seriously though it's about preparing right. Doing this means staff don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to sit on a coach seizing up before a game.

Yes it costs money, but it gives our players a better chance of bringing back another 3 points.

I know this sort of thing didn’t happen under the previous regime. Ex players have told me. They even had to buy their own food. It’s a change for the better.
