On Wednesday I was contacted by GTFC to tell me that my lost season ticket had been found in the Upper Findus - the only thing wrong was that I hadn't lost it. My name, season ticket no and seat no. were identical  in other words it had been cloned. The young lady from GTFC couldn't believe it and was going to investigate. I later sent an Email to GTFC asking if I should not say anything but have had no reply.  It would seem a coincidence that the only one forged was then lost - there must be loads of forged tickets out there ( 50 means a loss to the club of £1000 every home game ) I have noticed this season that quite a few people have been sat in other peoples seats and have moved without saying a word when the seat holder arrives.  My season ticket was printed in the office in front of me so how were these forgeries printed ?  Mhmmm ?                 I suspect arrests are imminent !!!

Interesting, not saying that you did yourself but I do remember at least a few people sharing pics of their shiny new season pass on social media, including the side with all the personal details on. Silly people...

In all innocence, I photographed my own season ticket and asked the turnstile operator if they could try and scan it, it worked.

My reasoning was in case I ever forgot to take it to the game with me but at the same time, I did think it could easily be used by unscrupulous individuals.

Having read the above, I suspect some people have taken a photo of the tickets on FB and produced it at the turnstile to gain entry.

QR codes that are used on the ticketing system are easily copied and then used to gain entry.

The solution to stop it is to reissue the season tickets but without any personal details on them. On entry the turnstile operator could then ask for your name or seat number and check it on his screen when they have scanned it. That way the QR code on it's own wouldn't be enough to gain entry.

Isn't this pretty much what happened at the Healing festival this year where people were giving there QR codes to friends to get in..

You have to be soo careful what you share online..

The QR code normally is used once, the system remembers it has been scanned and will not let anybody else in. Otherwise they would sell one ticket and copy it thousand of times for everyone to use.

Harder but with some ST holders not attending there will be spare seats.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,

Not sure if this is related but a group of 5 of us bought our tickets in the main stand for the Wrexham game only to find a family had tickets identical to 3 of ours. We moved to empty seats elsewhere thinking it must be an admin error due to the new ticketing system etc.

I do hope it is not anything more sinister.

This is the case with the current system, As there are a few forms of ticket entry now, a Season Ticket Card, printed ticket and emailed QR code the system is set to allow each code once per game, if someone  tries to use the same QR code a second time it comes up RED on the hand scanner and the steward should investigate,
If a cloned ticket or season pass is found the club can ban that card on the system  and create a new card with new QR code.

Yes, I am calling bullsh1t on this whole thing.

Not that it isn't possible to clone a QR code, of course it is, but the system wouldn't allow more than one person to enter on a single code.

You would hope that it wouldn't but then again, the new system was actually brought in under the stewardship of a certain member of this forum.

I don’t know much about QR codes but I do know that there was at least 3 duplicate tickets for the same seats in the Main Stand vs Wrexham.

I know this not to be bullshit.

The person you refer to  had no input in to this  whats so ever it was the Trust and a few GTFC staff,
The system has been fully tested for double scanning of QR Codes and does flag up if someone tries, How I know this as I was one of the people testing it.
There is nothing to say the person who cloned this card or ticket dropped it as it did not work, just because it was found in the ground does not mean they used it to get in/

Take it with what you like but everything I have said is completely true.. It is far too  serious to joke about  I'll go so far as to say that in my opinion it is somebody or bodies who has access to the machine in the office. If the system wont allow the same 2 tickets through then somebody on the gate is also involved

Are you saying it is an inside job with club employees working to help con the club out of money to ensure their mates get in free of charge? That's quite an allegation to make.

Of course it needs investigating and if possible the culprits caught but I like to think no employees are involved in any wrongdoing.

Not sure but surely you’ve missed it

Say you say you sell 3000 park  tickets at 10 each
Then
Sell 50 replica ones at 10 each that means the company gets the money for the 3000 plus the 50 replica ones but the official figures only show 3000 not the 50 replica ones this giving the company  £500 not declared.

Should use a digital ticket that regenerates the QR code for every game. Or if people don't want to use a phone, good old fashioned ID with a ticket that has your face printed on it.

Otherwise you're just asking for forgery.

It’s a mistake, pure and simple. On Saturday it seemed like the electronic system was down anyway.

It doesn’t tend to happen at modern stadiums or higher up the league as the turnstiles are connected to then barcode scanner…BP isn’t that modern for plenty of reasons.

At the Barnet game a bloke near us was sat in a ST holders seat, he’s purchased the ticket online and the system had allowed it. The ST holder asked him to shift and pointed him towards a steward, he spoke with the steward and they sorted it. Simples.

Some weird accusations and over the top responses here, I don’t think anyone is saying the original poster is lying but to imply some weird inside job is bizarre. There’s literally nothing in that for anyone…

A mistake if the seat was sold twice, I agree. That can happen using an electronic or traditional paper ticketing system quite easily.  It happens.

But the OP said that his ticket was replicated.  That's a different matter altogether.

Let me state it clearly for those who find it hard to read. "  GTFC (a young lady)phoned me on Wednesday to tell me that my PLASTIC season ticket had been found. I told her that I still had MY SEASON TICKET. She confirmed that all the details on the found PLASTIC SEASON TICKET including my name were identical to my PLASTIC SEASON TICKET. You have to be very careful where you leave your season tickets.
A Scunny fan I know left his two season tickets on the passenger seat of his car, then went shopping.
When he got back someone had put the window through.

And left two more 😉

There is a very good explanation for what has happened and I believe someone has or is trying to contact you directly to explain, there is no sinister plot or underhandedness going on which once explained will make this thread somewhat pointless and over reactional.

Quite an accusation to be making.

The club literally hands out hundreds of free tickets every week and still has empty seats. Not sure of the need for an orchestrated card cloning operation involving club staff. Too much Columbo I reckon.

Looking forward to the embarrassing climb down.

I have just had Kristine on the phone. She has given me an explanation and assured me that there is nothing crooked going on. There was a duplicate ticket but it had never been used. She explained the reasons for this duplicate ticket ( which are too long to go into )  and has put my mind at ease. The issues in the Main Stand that somebody mentioned was due to a time lag and this has now been sorted.     I can now concentrate on Saturdays match.  U.T.M

If you do not mind me asking what was the reason given for the duplicate card? Sharing that, rather than leaving it open to speculation, would put this whole thread to bed.

Wouldn't have happened if they'd carried on doing everything on paper and in that old school exercise book, wouldn't have happened under John F

Computerised ticketing - noooooooooo

Boo Stockwoods and Pettits out now

Many many things happened under John Fenty’s regime but not all bad but the ticketing system was out of date and crying for an upgrade. What I see is people trying to say something sinister is going on to start the rumour mill once again, trying the make the new owners to be wronguns.

I hope you are at peace with the answer you got. But as you did start the tread, with good intentions, perhaps you could give a short explanation of what went wrong.

It's a bit complicated but from my understanding - I am supposed to have informed them that I had lost my ticket (which I  never did ) so they printed a duplicate one off and gave it to a steward to pass on - but it was the wrong seat number - so they printed the correct details and left the new season ticket on the desk. The next morning one of the girls saw the Season Ticket. and assumed that it was a lost one and had been handed in so she phoned me -that's when I was informed. I have been assured there was no skulduggery taking place.  PS  I am very old and think this is what she told me.   Does this make sense.

I’m old and yes it makes sense to me.
What I can’t make sense of is no sign of an apology from you regarding the disgusting allegations you made towards the staff in the ticket office and others !!
You were given incorrect info originally . But still put 2and 2 together and came up with 25.
I quick ‘I’m sorry folks I got it wrong’ wouldn’t go amiss.
Unless of course you did the same course as JF in ‘mistake admitting’. !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Just bought my ticket for the Dover game, hope I'm not sat on golfer's knee

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Last season's pass allows entry . I did not realise that I still had it in my wallet and used it in the 1st home game against Weymouth . Due to Covid my seat for last season was changed. It still let me in so perhaps this explains the problem  . I cut mine up as soon as I realised but some people may have given last season's ticket to a friend and allowed them in free .

Weird incident and I can understand golfer jumping to his own conclusions before the explanation. It’s all sorted out now so people don’t need to go ott with the apology requests, he didn’t aim any allegations at an individual

One lap naked around BP at the next home game with a sausage you know where and it's all forgotten as far as I am concerned.

But that’s the thing…you didn’t use last season’s to get in did you? Let’s face it. People need to stop making stuff like this up it’s tiring.

Strangely I've never brought last seasons card with me to matches, you know what with it being for last season when we weren't even allowed in BP...
