When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

That’s sad. Sad at any time, but 58 is no age.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Not someone I knew but taken too soon. Rest easy John.

RIP John. Condolences to the family and friends

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

RIP John, 58 is no age to pass away. I'm sure you're in a better place. Hope the club remembers your 40 years of service.

This is sad news.

I have known John for almost 40 yrs. Havent seen him in a while as i dont live in town anymore. Think it was a pre-season at North Ferriby a few years ago last time we chatted.

Lovely guy who will be sadly missed by those who knew him. My condolences to his family.

RIP mate.

Sad news, I don’t recognise John, always horrible when a fellow Town fan passes. Condolences to John’s family.

Genuinely nice bloke. He was my head Steward when I started at BP. Under his guidance I progressed and  became Head Steward in the Pontoon for a few seasons, and when he first become ill, I took over his tenure on the CCTV for a couple of seasons when John Tuke was in charge.

He was GTFC through and through. I hadn't seen him in about 15 years but I will always remember him as a joker.
