Should be more or less the starting line up for the season bar some tinkering. With luck a new striker in there too.

I'm glad they've sorted this as it looked like there was a bit of a gap with no game in the run up to Bromley. This should be pretty competitive I hope.

I thought we might have picked a game with an u23 game…be interesting given you’d imagine Chesterfield will be a bit of rival next year…

I think Hurst said he wanted a game against a Conference side to give us that little bit of a nod as to what we're going to be up against.

Good choice for a final main pre-season game.

Not sure when the U23 season starts and I thought similar but U23 teams don't play anything like how teams at our level play. I guess we don't really have a choice because the EFL starts 2 weeks before and National League North/South starts that day.

It is unusual but it's not like we will be giving any secrets away because opposition teams watch us play anyway.

Don't normally play someone from our division, looking forward to going to this game.

This is certainly unusual - can't recall us playing anyone from the same division pre season before. (Come to that I can't recall any one else playing another team from the same division pre season).
However we don't face Chesterfield again until mid December.
This time I assume PH & Co are looking outside the traditional box to assess our performance against another promotion favourite.

Notts County are playing Solihull on that day too, so we might end up seeing a few more teams from our division playing each other.

Like jamesgtfc says, there aren't a lot of clubs knocking about that day looking for a game. They're all playing competition football. It's only our league that has nothing to do.

I mentioned a few days ago we would be playing Chesterfield and we do have a game against Burnley U23s behind closed doors the day after the Alfreton friendly so not sure yet what that squad will be.

I think its a pity that Town didnt manage to get a proper friendly against a higher league club (other than Rotherham) to give us the chance of a second or even third home friendly. Now we are non-league again, we should have been looking higher up the tiers for a game, rather than teams several levels below us. To lose to a team higher up the pyramid is not such a bad thing, but potentially losing to teams below us just takes the urine.

The semi-final and final is to be played during the season so it's understandable that we sent the kids.

I think the lack of home friendlies is due to the condition of our pitch and the work that has been done throughout the summer. Our season starts 2 weeks after League clubs and they want higher teams as they get close to their big day so timing these big friendlies is tough. We've played Mansfield and Rotherham, Boston will be a good test as they are a very good side and then we have Chesterfield. There is also Alfreton and Burnley U23 within 24 hours of each other so one of them will give our first team a decent game you would expect.

At the end of the day, they are all training games to help the team gel. Results matter, but getting a team to gel and forming an understanding, good team spirit, on the pitch, in the dressing room, and training ground are very important.

Come the Bromley game, out of the starting gate and 3 points. Going up, of course we are.

Didn't we win all our pre-season games the last time/season Hurst was in charge and we played some decent teams including Derby, or did I just dream it?

I knew it was something beginning with S in south Lincs.
