At last assembling a squad before pre season, instead of fenty usual of signing layers two games into the season on the cheap.
Could be a good season. Let’s hope.

maybe Hurst has finally got a properly 'competitive budget' and is using it accordingly?
got to be a big plus that he can start working with a practically complete squad from day 1 (think we start pre season in a couple of weeks don't we?) and also the players can use this time to get their affairs settled and accommodation sorted, so they can solely concentrate on training and playing from the get-go

Quite agree. It means getting in a full preseason with all or most of the signings. Someone like Michee Efete apparently has things to work on and it means there is some time to start that in training before the start of the season.

As my cousin said - it's almost as if something has changed. Seems easier to sign players than it did before

Yes. Not the usual last minute round up of barrel scrapings.

totally agree.

We are all of a sudden a project that players want to join;
New owners with great ideas, and wanting to progress.
A manager with history of being liked by majority of his players, and proven success.

Unless I am losing it, which is possible being 75 years old, I don't see many LB's in the squad?

On that note, I have just sent Sam Strandt another email, as he hasn't replied to one I sent on Monday. Hopefully I will get a reply this time.

When I first played in a team at Old Clee School I was the only naturally left footed player in the team so always got put at left back whether I wanted to or not. Feeling left out because everyone else was right footed, during the next summer holidays I taught myself to play right footed, and even now in my early middle-agedness (is that a word?) I can still kick a ball better with my right foot than left.

Can I be Harry Clifton’s understudy please?

You did well. There not many genuinely ambidextrous and two footed players in sport. Bobby Charlton did the same as you in reverse because left wing was the only way into his side in Ashington. The great Fred Trueman could throw a ball with either arm first bounce from boundary to wicket keeper. He could also bat left and right handed. And of course there’s Ronnie O’Sullivan.

My Dad taught me to kick with both feet at a very early age, I believe I was 5 or 6 and he had me out in the back yard kicking a tennis ball against the outhouses with alternate feet,  I never forgot that and carried on doing it as I grew up, and eventually I could kick as well with my left foot as with my right, even took corners now and again with my left foot.

Under the old regime, the players were signed late as possible to save a few weeks wages.

Paying players to be on summer holiday doesn't win you three points on a Saturday.

Exactly what I would do too, but I had a variety of different size balls to use.

Some days instead of kicking with alternate feet I would only kick with my right no matter at which angle it was.
