I hope that Mckeown was watching what happens when you are way outside the 22nd yard box. Scotland's goalkeeper was about 5 yards from the centre circle when he realised the ball was heading his way. And then was too late to make any attempt at saving.

How many times does Mckeown wander up the pitch when we are attacking? And why?

Getting back to the goal I think it's going to be replayed many times in future years.

One that will not be easily forgotten, poor old Scots

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Love the camera shot from the goal, showing Marshall's desperate attempt to get back.
Scotland have been reported for breaking fishing quota's, big yellow thing caught up in the net.

Doubt we will come up against any ex Serie A, Bundesliga strikers in the National League anyway.

I’m tempted to say how sad [not] I’ll be to see that played over and over again. But I’ll wait until after our game against them to fully enjoy it.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Because goalkeepers are expected to play as sweepers also now. The Scottish keeper just positioned wrong. Fantastic finish.

Macca is the captain and if he stayed on his line the players upfield can not hear what he is moaning about.

Shocking, if he had not gone on walkabouts, there was a chance that the Jocks could have got a point out of the game,  He has lost them the chance of going through to the next round, after Friday they will be packing their bags again

Bit harsh that; he’ll have been doing it based on tactical instructions. And that’s the thing with tactics, sometimes they work for you, sometimes they work against you - that’s how it goes.

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred that shot either doesn’t happen or the striker spoons it out for a goal kick. It creates debate because the goal was so remarkable - remarkable because of its rarity. On the flip side, the goalkeeper being stood where he was either intercepts or completely prevents a good number of potential through balls - that’s the play-off.

You win some, you lose some. And since it’s Scotland who lost, never mind eh…

They move up and down on where the play is.  I suppose it's because if the opposition has a break and play a through ball the keeper can get to it and put it over the stand.  Remember the goal against Stevenage (or was it Southend?).

For what it’s worth, I do think the keeper was at fault but I do believe he was probably playing to orders.

All well and good if you’re Ederson and have Man City in front of you but he’s the reserve keeper at a club that nearly got relegated from the championship and has the Scotland defence in front of him.

Great ping though, some serious accuracy.

He would have been told to be up the pitch but just not that far up! Create a massive laugh out loud moment for me though!

Macca wasn't the Captain for the last few games of the season.

Think it’s one of those where, yes the keeper was 5 or 10 yards too far forward, but at the end of the day it’s still a magnificent strike. Even more impressive when he didn’t really have time to set himself and hit it on the run.

The problem with this is the prime function of a goalkeeper is to stop the ball from going into the net, hence his title. Anything else the keeper does is a bonus, but his prime job should be remembered at all times.

When Scotland lose possession, they're 30 yards out from the Czech goal.  The deepest Scottish players are 5 yards into the Czech half.  There's two Czech players just a little deeper but miles away from the nearest Scottish player. (look here - about 45 seconds in - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/57475435).

38 minutes left of time to play at 1-0 down.  I'd be asking more questions about why Scotland's defence left two Czech players in so much space for the counter attack than over Marshall's positioning.  If the left side of the Scottish defence covers the lad moving forward, that counter doesn't happen and the shot never gets hit.

Hell of a shot though, basically gave himself a tiny area to hit to stop Marshall reaching it.  Sometimes you've got to just accept quality.

Yep, there's not much you can do against a shot like that. The Scots were a little unlucky in the way the ball ricochets off the defender when their attack broke down and falls straight to a man in space.

If they leave that kind of space against Sancho, Bellingham, Sterling, Foden etc they will get torn apart by England.

I don't want to offend anybody who's Scottish on here or start an argument but isn't this what we always hear from Scotland? This is supposedly their best team in years, they genuinely felt they could do well and this game was a potentially decent start for them. What we got was a poor to fair defensive performance and strikers (and a captain) who couldn't hit a cow's a*se with a banjo. They now have to play the 2 stronger teams in the group and have to get results - if it wasn't for the passion and 'auld enemy' stuff I wouldn't give them a hope in hell against England and Croatia cannot be as lacklustre against Scotland as they were against England.

They look like a classic Scottish team - a handful of genuinely decent international players and then a bunch of journeymen. I've said elsewhere, I doubt that QPR's striker is giving John Stones et al sleepless nights.

If Scotland had even half the luck that has supposedly deserted them in the last 50 years they'd have won the world cup 6 times over.

I actually fancied Scotland to get through the group. They still might. But hopefully not.

The occasion definitely got to them though. The Scottish media describing it as ‘must win’ didn’t help.

Andy Robertson was pumped up like a Strathclyde séx doll and was in full on Merseyside derby mode. I think it was Coufal he hacked down in the second half, when Coufal was about 5 yards away from the ball. Not sure how he didn’t get booked at any point.

They certainly missed Tierney.
