How long have you been here?

Just a thread to come away from the stress of football and GTFC.. I've just noticed I've been registered to this board for 13 years as of this month!
So many highs and lows... Liverpool, spurs, Burnley (6-5), Peterborough away, Lincoln bike ride, Wembley.... To Burton away, Lincoln 0-5.

Regards the forum the highlight of my 13 years was that Poojah letter

How long have you been registered??

Registered at the end of 2008, so 12 and a bit years. What a wonderful 12 years it's been on the pitch.

Just over 11 years for me, been on the fishy most days in that 11 years, it’s a great forum with great posters, I’ve actually made friends through this site who I’ve met and keep in touch with regularly.

Had to go into "Member Centre" to find out when  

Top 2 highlights.

1. Getting promoted back to the Football League.

2. Holloway taking the Town job, that went well

I too have made some friends on here who have made my life better.
People who "have your back" when times aren't great.

13 years for me. Only came on to stop abuse directed at me over the famous Fowler incident, made by a bald headed jerk who I believe still posts. Highlights for me was promotion and winning the Prediction League in 2017!

Interesting mixed bag of people on here. Despite differences I think the main thing the forum provides is a love for this football club and the community and source of identity for people who have lived in or have connections to the football club to some degree or another.

July 2011, so coming up 10 years. Not been a bad decade for us has it? Oh wait... 😒 I wonder how much actual time of our lives we’ve all spent on here over the years?

12-13 years met some good friends at games during that time.

Football has been very poor though apart from when we got promoted.

The Liverpool win was in 2001 and that 6-5 Burnley game was in 2002 Luke, so getting on for 20 years ago now, so long before The Fishy even existed I think.

On another note, is there a reason a lot of posters joined in December? I did.

I joined December 2007 and was on The Electronic Fishcake before that. I like this site and check it out virtually every day. It certainly shows a diverse range of views , from the sublime to the ridiculous , but that reflects society in general.

Not long as BlackandWhiteBarmy2. As the one and only original BlackandWhiteBarmy I came over in the wake of the demise of the Electronic Fishcake where I was a star. Then there was the infamous football/non football split, although I can't remember if that was on the Electronic Fishcake or not, anyway that lead to the formation of the Grim Outlook and my departure. I think I then came back but ran into a period when Mr Fenty was sort of vetting the posters and posts and I was denied an invitation. Eventually came back but people said I was obsessed with CHEESE and was spoiling it, I am obsessed by CHEESE but there is no way that discussion of CHEESE can spoil anything. So I left again. Then I rejoined but couldn't remember my old credentials hence the new account.

On this forum, in this guise 7 years. Was TW Area Town Supporter for a while before that. On the Grimmy before that and the Electronic Fishcake round the turn of the Millennium.

Highlights: football on the pitch Liverpool win. Off it, the Mexican invasion of Barnet/Operation Promotion.

I must be one of the young ones, for a change.

I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed it, different viewpoints, opinions, banter, and a unity ( bar 1 or 2) of Fenty out.

I remember when I created the Fishy I was drunk off with the new look Rivals (which Sky had bought and "redesigned") so I just created the new site and posted about it on the Electronic Fishcake, which Billo kept on running. Almost overnight everyone switched to this which I didn't expect at all, if you look at the first 100 people who registered, over half have made over 1000 posts and 8 over 10000. Only one person in that first 100 never posted, and they've been the bedrock of the site ever since. Many of them are still active.

Funniest thing ever, well it was quite funny. Taking the Wendys with Big Watford Love and the night we humbled the Seattle Mariners with talk of dumplings. The Grimsby Peach Kings a junior hockey team in Canada banned all UK IP addresses because they couldn't take a joke.

Remember that bloody chair link that one of the Watford guys had, The Wendys didn't like it. You basically had to shut down your PC to get rid of it.

Funny you should mention 80s Glory. I thought to myself the other day that current poster DB reminds me a lot of 80s and that I wouldn't he surprised if it was the same person. Several similarities. This isn't a pop at DB, i actually liked 80s.

I used to think so but he said he was a Steelers fan but lived in Seattle. Was a retired teacher. Can't remember his user name but strangely enough I remember his real name.

Never met him but we had plenty of e-mail correspondence. Think his son played for the Seattle Sounders before the MLS started getting a bit bigger. Neverfound out why he was a town fan though. Takes all sorts.

He ended up posting a lot of stuff that Trump would have been proud of.

There's certainly been some great posters on here, like myself! There's some very intelligent posters on here, and a wide range of opinions and a few trolls of course!

There's also been some great posters who are sadly no longer with us such as Icey, and more recently Jock Dock Tower just to name a few, their contributions were welcomed and are sadly missed.

Wow. Shocked I was in that early to be honest....and that prolific.
Now I have seen the list, surely there should be some award for any current poster , who was one of the first 100 and has posted maybe more than ohh let's say 14260 times ?

Highlights in all that time   a bit like LH , got post of the week once...yay....think I also won the caption comp once, used to enjoy that.......both of which mean given the number of posts made means I have a strike rate worse than Matt Green.

It was never shut down, just members only for a few weeks in 2013.

13 Jan 2008 and electronic fishcake prior to this. Based out of country 2000-2008 and so enjoyed the electronic fishcake- still made a lot of games as back a lot utm

5/1/2008 . Maccabilk was my favourite poster . Poojah is my current one

I started in the ElectronicFishcake, as TeesinYork.  For some reason I could not post on my old PC.  I had to use a mouse working a keyboard on the TV.  Took ages so only made about 2 posts.

I used to like reading Its A Grim Outlook. Some great discussions on cheese and politics.  I remember Gymgirl and some of the other very interesting posters.  

On one board there was a frequent poster from Sheffield.  He claimed to be a milionaire.  Then disappeared. There was also a professo or scientistr? who used to post a lot of academic stuff (truth and logic was one topic).

Have been on the New Fishy a long time.  Changed mu username, I think because of log-in or password issues.

Enjoy reading most posters - even if some annoy me or I disagree with their views.  We fought 2 world wars for freedom of speech.

Since 2014 I think, so that makes me a bit of a newbie.

I guess the thing that keep me coming back on is that it testifies to something I was once told “just because I don’t like it that’s doesn’t mean it’s wrong”.

As long as it doesn’t cross the boundaries of race, religion, sexuality etc.. etc... long may the free speech and opinion continue.

Sorry Tommy, not me, mind you I was around in the 80s, 70s,60s, and 50s. I do remember life before a keyboard with a fountain pen and a bottle of ink. Then came a brand new invention, ink in a cartridge.

Those were the days, several of them to get a letter from A to B, you don't know your born today. Type, post receiver gets it in microseconds.

Surprised to have been included on the list of the ‘originals’ - funny what you remember though..originally posted under the name SLM (SloughMariner) - where I often crossed swords with BAWB - went in to become good mates, Grim Outlook etc since,  sat next to each other for years in Pontoon and shared the odd away trip - both of same mind and had Fenty worked out from Day 1. Both boycotted since - I’ve returned very sporadically. Got to meet/know various posters from here and elsewhere over the years - some of whom I still interact with on an offline- some of whom I avoid like the plague.

On a serious note to see the club turn into what it is now - on and off pitch - well...it’s upsetting..heart breaking ..

I ..along with others ..hoped..hope for a fresh start.
