No but I’ve seen a situation where hundreds of peaceful, innocent commuters were kettled by police. There was no one throwing anything.

I would also ask if you were there at the start. Did the protesters attack first or only after the police waded in? I doubt you were a witness, so I wouldn’t assume only having seen film of the incident once it was already going.
