Why the fook would you run a horse rated 47 against that field ? Just sums up the cretins we’ve had involved with gtfc for years

Maybe it’s a con. Deliberately make it look like a crap horse , then lump on it and storm it

I've never seen a good Michael Chapman horse, every race he enters his horses always seem to be no hopers who has no chance of even finishing the race let alone winning the race.

He must be one of the worst trainers around.

He can't do it for the success, he clearly does it for the passion.

His stable is basically just the equivalent of a dogs home with gullible owners

Something not right about that. Is he helping the bookies out by bringing the odds down of the other horses?

No just a lazy trainer who can’t be arsed to take a horse to run in a suitable race somewhere like fakenham because Rasen is a couple of miles away

The horse recently changed owner and trainer, Tim Easterby to M Chapman (£1.200).

The usual tactics of putting a horse in a small field hoping to get the crumbs of the prize money.

With only 5 runners in this race, if the horse manages to even get 4th position due to a faller the prize money is £971. Who knows what a few Royal Jelly capsules may do.

That money will certainly buy a few bales of the specially imported hay from Ireland (apparently its better grass than ours).

Just hope the jockey finishes the race unscathed unlike Billly Worthington (snr) who rode for Chapman (Terdad) that nearly cost him his life and certainly ended his riding career.

Well Chappy pulled it off picking up the crumbs.
1 of the 5 pulls up, Fast Deal tailed off but gets over the line 97 lengths adrift at 300/1.

I think the years are showing now and the knackers yard is drawing closer, much to the disappointment of William Hill, Ladbrokes et al.

Bless him.

(86 Length behind the horse that came 3rd.)

You also used to get £400 appearance money for running your horse on a Sunday. This is on top of any prizemoney that may be won and was to help compensate for the perceived extra costs involved in running a horse on a Sunday. When you have literally walked the horse across the road to compete, those extra costs won't exist in this instance, so more reasons to be cheerful as far as Mr Chapman is concerned. He is well known for spotting every little trick in the book to eek out a few quid wherever he can.

He played that card at Cartmel no end of times although I don't know if it still applies.

Cartmel was his regular festival of Tricks. Think his whole string was entered for races up there for the August bank holiday weekend. Beautiful part of the country and a fantastic weekend if you ever get the chance to go. Loved by Mr C  and aesthetically i can see why. But being a tiny racecourse in the middle of nowhere, with poor transport links and traditionally not having the luxury of a watering system(maybe they do now but doubt it), lets just call the ground they raced on usually on the lively side. So they would sometimes struggle for runners. This was their biggest fear, tens of thousands of paying customers(big holiday crowds at that time of year) wanting competitive racing, but not bothering to go as they had only managed to get a few horses to enter each race. Their solution was to offer generous subsidies/payments to connections who would be prepared to run their horses. The trainer and owner would be treat like kings and some of em loved this. Mr C would often run his twice over the weekend to fill his boots with the handouts. The equine opposition was let's say at the slower end of the racehorse population(being generous here), so in addition to all the subsidy money, he might even get his annual winner !!. Reasons to be cheerful part 3 !

Don't tell me the result yet - going to watch it on catchup. Michael said it's going places so who am I to dispute- had £10K to finish in the first 3. Whatever I win will donate to JSF's retirement party.

It can and does get hot & dry in August, that's why it's packed with tourists in August. Guess that's also why they hold their " August Bank Holiday " festival at that time of year.
