In the next 3/4 weeks the Fenty era should be behind us, but what does the future hold. Many threads more or less say the current players we have ( apart from the 2 newbies ) are crap and thankfully most of their contracts are up in the summer, thank goodness.

We have the basis of a new management team, who given the right players should provide us with a decent team next season. That said we have this season to worry about. Judging by the performance by our headless chickens today we are in the manure up to our chins. The only saving grace is if the National League is made null and void, given their loans offer may be rejected gives us some hope.

Then we  have our future/new owners the Three Amigos. They have been very, very quite which of course is their prerogative. However their investment is literally going down the pan before they take charge , and something also needs to be done by them if they so desire.

So what does the future hold?

Look at the present first.  Without the impact of Covid (given the notional number 19 shirt) and closed grounds, we would be freezing our wotsits off watching this absolute shambles of non-players.

Small mercies.

Jimmy mac and matt green to be finally given their p45. Both absolutely useless. Those making excuses for them should take a long hard look at their performances. How can a team be motivated when the have that docks beers loving idiot who cant stay in a goal or catch a ball to save his life.

Hurst needs to show him and that pathetic excuse of a striker the door sharpish

If we're gonna survive non league we need better than them

What next?  We are in the bottom 2 of Div 2.  Near rivals Hull and Lincoln are both in the top 2 places at the top of Div 1.   Even nearish geographical teams like Donney and Peterborough are are also in the top 5 of Div 1.

We are so far adrift of teams that we used to be above, that we are light years behind all of the above teams.

He may deserve respect H but he also deserves criticism, his distribution is still sh!te, he cannot command his area and if I'm honest, I don't think he's a league quality keeper.
Been a great servant for GTFC but we do need better and Henderson proved that I'm afraid, due to his inability to come for crosses it forces the defenders deeper and today proved that, a quality keeper would've cone for that cross that caused their second goal and put his fist through it.

Apologies for going personal but honestly I have no respect for the guy. He messes up week after week. People are forever backing him saying hes amazing yet this season he has been absolutely awful. When is someone gonna show him where the goal is because at the moment hes more bothered about prancing around anywhere other than where he should be.

You have him one end letting us down and twinkle toes matt green doing his little ballerina dance not focusing on the ball. Useless keeper and a guy with 2 left feet. What a great pair we have letting us down

Any constructive observations on the way forward?

I know it's boring but Tuesday night is the only thing that matters. The National League might gift us a reprieve but 3 points against Barrow would make the league table look a lot healthier and give us a massive confidence boost.

Once Jolley got a win under his belt in his first season we started to play a lot better and picked up a few precious points quite quickly.

the trouble is, Rob, that there is absolutely zero evidence that this bunch have the ability, the mental strength nor the will to turn it around. We thought we'd turned a bit of a corner last week, and now we've taken 2 steps back, despite having good players back after injury and 2 promising signings. Scunts are 1 of the poorest teams in the division, yet we made them look decent and we didn't even create a decent chance. Just to focus the mind - when was the last time an opposition keeper had to make a good save in order to deny us a goal? I think there was a  badly deflected shot a couple of matches ago, but apart from that i really can't remember any

Height didn’t help him v Newport though when their keeper scored from a goal kick this week.

The side Jolley inherited wasn’t great but it was better than this one.

In answer to the question in the thread title.

- We go down
- The new owners come in
- Hurst has a full clear out out and much better in
- The new owners start to get us back on board
- We come back up ...... eventually!

We've won 5 games this season and so have Barrow. Are we that terrified of them that we've written ourselves off? Yes, we are excrement but so are they! We can win on Tuesday I refuse to give up just yet!

Unfortunately, 3 of their wins have come in the last 5 games, so they are in much better form than us.

Not that I think we can't win there, just that they are the more likely to.

We could possibly beat them if the players actually cared or wanted a win. I honestly think they are happy to run around for an hour and a half, get paid and go home. Lack of talent you can forgive, Lack of intelligence isn’t their fault. Lack of effort there is no excuse for. They’re all just seeing out their time on easy street. They have no pride towards or commitment to this club and it shows. Their attitude is an insult to the club and Paul Hurst. I’d rather see 11 local lads out there giving it 100% every week and losing than these selfish, self centred losers. 30 years ago the Clee Park would have annihilated this bunch.

EDIT. Forgot how old I am...40 years ago the Cleethorpes Park would have annihilated this bunch.

Totally agree. The rot started with oloway in the summer and hasn't changed. You don't know what he, or Fenty, promised them if but it's not what they are getting, then they are not going to be motivated.

I'm convinced I have played with better players in local football than some of the players we have now. I watch them and think, why can't you control and pass a football? Why can't you cross a dead ball into the danger area? Why can't you hit a shot with power and direction? It's shocking that they can't even manage the basics of the game. Not all of them, but enough to make us toothless as a functioning side. We have too few decent players, trying to compensate for the ones not up to standard.

Add in a lack of confidence, and yesterday a pathetic lack of fight and spirit, and it's a recipe for relegation.

I'm hoping against hope that yesterday was the absolute bottom, and we start to improve greatly from here on in. Mansfield have gone from the bottom end of the form guide right to the top spot with 5 wins on the bounce. It can be done, though I do understand they have a better squad than us.

Gonna be a big week for us.
