His agent, Sproson/Sproston, has said ball is in Vale’s court, presumably to get a move for his client.

Is that the same Sproson who used to play for Vale? Might be a deciding factor if so.

Curtis Tilt, centre half, just returned to Rotherham from Wigan, presumably because the administrators can't afford to pay him. He's fit, having played numerous times this season already.
Rob Scott is head of recruitment at Rotherham.
Any chance Paul and he are still on good terms?  Tilt would be spot on for us?

If Hurst wanted anyone from Rotherham he would go to the manager (Paul Warne) who he is (still) great friends with. Why would he approach a glorified Chief Scout?

Scott labelled Hurst as something along the lines of 'someone you wouldn't want in the trenches with you' during a bizarre Twitter Q&A a few years back.

But time heals and I'm sure they've sorted things out, indeed that Scott has calmed down his style since.

Hurst signed at least one player on loan from Rotherham when he was Scunthorpe manager, Jamie Proctor.

I thought Janoi Donachien was signed by Hurst at Ipswich?

Quoted from Nelly GTFC
Yep you are right, Soccerbase date error. They usually correct stuff, sent an email to racingpost.com to amend it.

Hurst signed Donachien on loan with a view to a permanent deal because the player had UK work permit issues. These were resolved and he joined Ipswich permanently in January 2019 by which time Hurst had been sacked & Paul Lambert was Ipswich manager.

Kyle vassell is down the pecking order at Rotherham I think. Maybe a bit of a big ask to get him though
