Presumably the only reason he can have for not selling now is that he is a control freak for whom being chairman of GTFC is his only means of acting the 'big man' in the local community now that he doesn't have five star fish or deputy leader of the council positions? If he leaves he will simply be a rich nobody and that, for someone of his ego, seems to be unbearable for him.
What i reckon will be eating him up inside is the thought of the new owners being successful and the thought that deep even in his deluded psyche he will have to admit to being an epic failure.

The intelligent well thought out and coherent statement of the consortium is a pleasant change from the moronic self pitying ramblings that we have had to endure over the last few years. Being paid the loans back over 3 years instead of 1 is not a valid reason to hang on to power particularly when you have stated publicly that you want to sell. My advice for Fenty would be to intercourse off now before it gets worse.

This is all about power and spite for Fenty now. He gets £1m up front here and then guaranteed £1.5m within 3 years. So in 3 years time he’ll be £2.5m richer. Whether we agree that he deserves it or not is irrelevant, but he gets what he believes is “due” to him in 3 years. If he holds onto the club he can tax maximum £100k a year realistically. So to get his £2.5m he says he’s owed it’d take him 25 years. He gets it in 3 here. PLUS he’s taking on the risk of relegation to non league and then god knows what. He might not get any money at all!
So in summary; take the offer and intercourse off you narcissistic Tory twit.

In my opinion its all about money and being top dog with Mr Fenty, so I assume he will be very very irritated that the consortium will be able to get the regeneration and relocation going, making money in the process and he will be sat on the sidelines, envious.
That is what will be eating away at him, unable to accept that someone else can do it, and make the money he could have earned, had he been able to deliver the new stadium.
He will never get a better offer, and he will never be able to make his dreams come true, so like we all have to do at times, accept the reality of the situation.

There are currently 6 directors at the club. The other 5 (even his 3 loyal acolytes) probably need to phone him 1 after the other and tell him clearly that his time is up and that they will resign in 7 days if he hasn't concluded a deal by then. I think Philip Day is his friend, if i was in that position I would be a friend and tell him he needs to sell the club as it's for the best of the club, the community and for John Fenty himself. Just imagine being John Fenty and residing over GTFC for a full 16 years, finishing higher than 14th place in League 2 on just two occasions, one of which was in being relegated from League 1, and someone comes in and offers you £2.5m (all you've invested/wasted and more) to walk away. You'd be squealing with glee all the way to the bank. I thank him for his hard work in the early days and his efforts to 'balance the books' but please now walk away whilst there is even a modicum of goodwill.

But they didn't come back. According to their statement, it was offered Christmas Eve and put to bed while they spent the festivities with their families. Then JF rejects it again this morning very publicly. They seem as confused as we are as to why. |

Fenty has nowhere to go now. If he clings on to power the backlash from the fans would be horrendous and unbearable. Imagine what it will be like at the first game fans are allowed back. I wouldn't like to be Fenty that's for sure. When football fans unite against their clubs owners it gets very nasty and personal. Surely he must realise this and know the game is up.

However, they have compromised and removed the relegation condition, so he should now also compromise and accept the 3 year deal, which he said he had accepted originally.
No reason why this shouldn't go ahead now given he will never get a better deal and if he stays, he'll lose most of the remaining fans. His family and friends should be having a word in his ear and telling him his time is up.

I’m am a hundred percent sure everyone one of you feels like I do now. And it’s horrible. During the summer I was genuinely concerned Covid could cause me not to have a club to love anymore. Six months later, I had no idea that the literal future of our club lies in the hands of an individual who lacks so much class, empathy, shame, morales and non alcoholic late night statements.
When Holloway slammed the premier league for their project big picture, he went on sky sports and said they are selfish, how every community deserves a football club. Well Holloway, your boy fenty is fast tracking our community to be club less. The premier league top four had more consideration for our clubs future than what our own majority shareholder currently has.
Shutes and co are everything that fenty is not. He feels threatened by this. And this worries me. He is so egotistical, that he wears turtle necks and tan leather jackets to agms; he tries to bridge the gap with supporters by releasing an interview whilst sat on a snooker table in his house with no shame at all. This is clearly a guy can’t be reasoned with
This is so painful. I watched every game this season on a laptop rather that via iptv on an actual tv, at the expense of a TENNER! cos I wanted to support the club. I couldn’t even face listening to it today.
Fenty. Please find some human emotion in that soulless heart of yours. Your getting your cash, the one thing that really makes you hard after all. Grimsby need a club. We need a club. Take your millions and leave. Don’t be forever known as the man who killed GTFC.

If this consortium believe its do-able on the docks or freeman street or wherever, I'd be more inclined to believe what they say. They have a track record of making things happen, multiple successsful businesses (not just a one-hit wonder to make their millions) and appear to know what they're talking about.

The more I read the statement the more I think it may not be legitimate unfortunately. It's not like Schutes, Stockwood and Petit to sling personal insults in their statements and there's quite a few if you read through it.
Hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking some very educated and clever anti-Fenty(whom I'm one but no where near sharp enough to write that) individual may have penned it.

The more I read the statement the more I think it may not be legitimate unfortunately. It's not like Schutes, Stockwood and Petit to sling personal insults in their statements and there's quite a few if you read through it.
Hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking some very educated and clever anti-Fenty(whom I'm one but no where near sharp enough to write that) individual may have penned it.
So BBC Radio Humberside and the Telegraph would publish it if it was sent in by a random person? |

I don’t think there’s any personal insults in it, what it does is call out the childish barbs that Fenty has used or the things he’s implied.
Whether it’s legit or not, Fenty can call people all he wants but he is now the only one who is wasting time, is a tyre kicker and so forth and it’s nothing to do with GTFC and all to do with him and his cash.
In truth I’d imagine Fenty has seen his bottom hence why yes now dragging his heels. He’d been cosying up to the crook for a sustained period of time, the alleged deal from him was idle for Fenty and he was nursing a semi on over it.
Someone rightfully exposed the whole thing and the fact he’s lost is position (hopefully his entire council role eventually) and his role at the club is untenable has drunk him off. He’s not disappointed the deal didn’t go through, he’s annoyed he got caught.
He has nobody to blame but himself; greed, arrogance, egotism and self obsessive behaviour has caused his downfall, like all good despotic leaders, he’s caused his own collapse...

Even if it’s fake, the pressure needs to remain and I’m sure that a club desperate to release statements would be benn out by now and told us that’s not legit...

The only way this is going to be resolved is if the consortium work with the current board, inject their cash to oust JF within three seasons!
Only problem is, I cannot think that this would happen?
Therefor, personally I think we are stuck in the doldrums until someone knocks sense into all at the club, and those that say they could be better at running it.

It's the only move that makes sense. Fenty said the relegation clause around his loans was the problem. The consortium have removed that condition. For the good of the club, get on with it.  |
