The concept of playing it out is fine as it draws the opponent onto you and in theory creates space further up the pitch. Sadly we just aren’t very good at it. Oh for Josh Benson and Billy Clarke, who could both hold the ball under pressure and link up with other team mates.


I get the theory behind it but either we don’t have the nous to work it upfield with intelligent movement or else we don’t have the ability

All I see is us playing the ball around our penalty area inviting pressure on ourselves as the opposition chase us down, cutting down any options we have to move upfield before we then lose the ball
