Like the look of this side, good to see Williams and Edwards in.

Edit: although I've no idea how the defence lines up; Clifton left back again?

433 with Clifton slotting in at left back. Ollie more or less confirmed we would changed to 4 at the back midweek.

Only square peg is Clifton at left back. And I actually think that’s me being quite harsh on Clifton as he’s always done a job wherever he’s played.

Other than Preston in at left back I’d say this is our strongest 11

Preston hasn't played well in weeks. We don't have another left back, so it's either Hendrie or Clifton to play out of position there.

Pretty much our best XI. Edwards back is huge.

There’s been a lot of negativity lately but the fact remains we won our last league game, hopefully today will see us go 3 unbeaten and a bit of optimism can return.

balderdash, unlucky Macca, thought he'd got that. One man in the box and they score, no one following him in and everyone else deep in the box.

For intercourse sake

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Wtf can't we get on the pitch for 1500  🤣

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

We are absolutely excrement.
Thought Holloway was a great move then I thought give him until Christmas now intercourse him.
Get rid before its to late.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Why has Holloway picked Clifton at LB?

Probably because we've ran Preston into the ground by playing him twice a week all season due a lack of any adequate cover at left-back.

Absolutely useless kick-out from him results in us giving up possession and gifting them a corner, which they then score from. The guy needs dropping, sick of hearing how amazing he supposedly is

Keeper has it.  Mckeown plays us into trouble again which leads to a corner.  The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result.   It was obvious there that you couldn't play it out from the back.  Team have worked us out. Bunch of effing amateurs.  Lazy good for nothing scumbags. It's not just lack of quality, there's no drive or hunger. I'll keep watching to say I saw the game that Grimsby conceded the most goals in their history. Can't we put the Grimsby lasses on?

Who are just as shite as the players who started the match

Unless of course we can put all 5 on without taking anyone off...

I think we can safely say the Clifton at left back experiment needs to be abandoned. As many on here have already said, we miss his energy in midfield.

Taylor needs to man the intercourse up. I'm so fed up of him of seeing his wimping out of tackles not challenging for headers he's so soft its embarrissing

When they have the ball back to their keeper our forwards are nowhere to be seen. When we have the call at the back they press us.

That's enough for me, switched off and not going back. Fed up with year after year of the same bull$hit. Manager after manager, young ones, experienced ones, the same garbage goes on and on
When Olly said his phone was burning with players wanting to play for us I didn't realise it was because they were all crap and couldn't a game anywhere else

After nearly 60 years of watching Town I can say without exception this is the worst Town team I have ever witnessed. To all of those who have still got their heads buried firmly in the sand,we are in serious trouble. This 20 years of penny pinching eventually taking effect,if we carry on with this regime I expect us to be facing relegation this seasons. It like watching rabbits caught in the headlights.

We can criticise Ollie all we like - fair enough
But we are giving so many goals away through crap decision making
Second goal was fecking stupid - and just when we were getting back into it

Anonymous midfield means far too much pressure on back four

7-0???

We have no shape we are a fuckin shambles and there is only one man to blame.
The fornicator loves the sound of his own voice the twit.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Any other manager would be gone after the start to the season we have had , the bloated squad he has been allowed to build then tell the press he is going to disassemble.

Fans , Board everyone has been in awe of him and left his decisions go unchecked.

Nearly winter and we still don’t have a settled team , relegation fodder

I expect us to be relegated.

Given the rhetoric that’s been spouted from the club over the years that existing is of paramount importance before any thoughts of progress, it’s caught up with us.

Fans have bought the nonsense and this is what we have left, I’m not even sure folk would be arsed if we went down.

Let’s face it; they were in the car park hounding Bill Carr out, we struggled to muster up a couple of hundred to get rid of Slade/Fenty...

Not looking too healthy this. Capitulation at work here it seems. As someone said - the same mistakes at the back - keep doing it and Town will be 24th. And it looks like they’re going to keep making the same mistakes for the foreseeable future.

I think the manager should be re-christened to Ian Losthisway.

JT has just said “what do you say at half time if you’re Ollie”?

I'd rather have Screaming Lord Sutch as manager.

Erm, aren’t you all forgetting that we made £140k profit last year and we still have a team to watch unlike Bury fans? This happens to be the best run club in the division, if not the country.

Jolley must be wetting himself.

I wonder if Tranmere will declare at HT.

Give your head a wobble

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Since when was 4-0 down in less than 40 minutes acceptable.

Covid is the latest in the line of excuses Fenty and his cronies have used. At least now he might shut up about ITV Digital. As for Holloway and his bullshit. Well, at least the free calendar with a season ticket will make a decent dartboard.

Embarrassing. Interest has been totally lost currently. Too many players. Too many players who are not good enough. Too much change week in week out. Too little investment. Too much expectation that we - the heartbeat of the club - will stick around no matter what.

We’re screwed. Totally flipping screwed.

I'd be on my way home now if this was the real world

You'll have to storm out of the house in disgust! I'm on the verge of it, ut I can't think of anywhere to go

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

It’s even worse given the fact this is probably our best XI.

Don’t know where to begin, toothless once again. If Macca wasn’t a club legend he’d currently be sat at home, he’s having an awful season and should’ve kept out two of the goals.

Front to back we’ve been woeful and a smashing like this has been coming.

I remember us being 5-0 down at Oldham at half time ,think we lost that game 6-0 and was relegated that season .
Ollie mouthing off in the press that he intends on getting rid of most of team in January doesn’t seem to have motivated them.

As someone said the fact we made a profit again last season makes it even more painful as that profit could have paid for 2-3 decent players.
This club has been run on the cheap for 20 years and it’s caught up with us again

All we can hope for is the floodlights to pack in 2nd half and the game to be canned. It would be karma after the Forest Green was abandoned when we were winning a few seasons ago.

Come on, the writing was on the wall before a game had been played. It was obvious the players he'd signed were crap.
I can't believe all these players have come on the cheap either

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Trim the squad, needs more than a trim it needs a bic one blade over it. Worst bunch of players Ive seen at the club, no heart, no desire, no clue. Bin the lot of them! Useless, embarrassing and wasting fans money week in week out.

Yes I am watching, yes it’s disgraceful, yes we’re completely shite atm, No, I don’t need to give my head a wobble. I’ve supported Town for over 40 years, Supported them. Most of you whingers don’t support them, you criticise and knock them at every opportunity, that’s not support. I’m furious atm, totally and utterly gutted at our performance, but I won’t give up.

What I can't understand is how were were so good v Orient and Cheltenham (who are decent teams) and since then it has been so poor
The fact he said he is trimming the squad says to me something is not right in the dressing room

I actually think our defence is good - they just get swamped by cheap balls given away in midfield and no fight/cover to get it back

1-0 down and it's game over

Loan players - do they really want it enough?
Older players - do they have the passion?
Non league stepping up - good enough?
Home grown talent - good enough?

I don't blame the youngsters or the non league lads stepping up
It's the experienced ones who need to lead by example and show some bottle and fight
That'll inspire the young lads

EG: Let's say for example Mohsni, Scannell and Bennett are on top wages - is their example going to inspire anyone? No
It's like any workplace - it drains the energy and enthusiasm from everyone

So let Ollie have his cull and see where we are in Feb... bottom I hear you cry!

But I cannot believe he's lost his managerial ability - the man has had so much success and has a template for success
Perhaps not the right template for L2 players we have?

Very worrying all round

Give over. Swallowing the bullshit and accepting standing on the apex of nothingness doesn’t make you a supporter, nor does not criticising.

We’ve been rudderless for years. The leadership of the club were paraded around after losing to Bournemouth but staying up because of points deductions and the likes, the inevitable happened and they still got away Scot free.

We had a manager, however uninspiring that created a side that players wanted to be part of and fans connected with and he walked away.

We’ve had a merry go round of managers in the last 20/25 years, we’ve seen little investment and seem to have no genuine plan of progressing as a club.

We’re no better with Holloway than we were without him. Nobody is saying he needs to go but perhaps he needs to just keep his flipping hyperbole to a minimum and have a long hard look at this dross we’re being served up week in week out because using Covid isn’t an acceptable excuse...

Square pegs till Preston on, Windsor no longer wasted in midfield, look a bit more solid now with Clifton where he should be.
Only player really showing anything is Edwards. This team has no pride and no commitment 2nd goal goes in and all they do is stand looking at each other. No one winding them up, non of them encouraging each other and we cannot start games with any of the loan kids in midfield as none of them are near ready for a mens game. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGHHH

You’re not the only one who’s supported the club for years. 1968 my first game. But for the past 17 years, we’ve been run by a clown who has now made as big a clanger as he ever has by effectively hamstringing us with a director/manager and a flimsy budget.

Imagine if we could attend the games, i doubt very much we would attend after what we are witnessing. Many a manager would have been gone by now, i just wonder if Ollie,s investment has kept him in employment here. I think Blundell Park would be similar as it is today, fairly empty. I am so heartbroken to watch my beloved Club play this way. My memories of the past span back to the early sixties, when i was in the Boys Stand in the Barrets. Loved players who are deceased would turn over in their graves. We need players to respect our shirt and badge and play their hearts out, it is so shameful to the ones who wear it now. Players... Be Proud, Be honest, Be Precious to us fans. We pay your wages, we deserve better. We are a Great Grimsby area, you need to prove this to us, Pride of Lincolnshire, its not a big ask, its what you are getting paid for. Wear with pride.

Great example there , Hendrie 25-30 yds from goal cutting inside...looking up...and not a single player in the box or anyone making any kind of movement for him so he goes for a threadneedle pass through four Tranmere players.

Nothing up top at all.

Unlucky Windsor, some good quick forward passing there. Why can't we do that more often?

Yes I am watching, yes it’s disgraceful, yes we’re completely shite atm, No, I don’t need to give my head a wobble. I’ve supported Town for over 40 years, Supported them. Most of you whingers don’t support them, you criticise and knock them at every opportunity, that’s not support. I’m furious atm, totally and utterly gutted at our performance, but I won’t give up.

There's one thing having a bad game but there's nothing.  They can't even do the basics of what a professional footballer is supposed to do.  Imagine a bus driver who couldn't turn corners or a waiter that can't pour a glass of wine.  They'd get crucified too. Tranmere are winning everything.

Donkeys led by a donkey. The players are simply not good enough to play whatever system the manager has dreamed up and the manager is not good enough to realise it

That's what's frustrating.  They don't seem to give a shite. Edwards working hard but to what end?  Fight you illegitimates and we'll get behind you.

Fancy calling our son Barnstonworth

'E's got middle nairm

What 'United'?!

The news comes on the back of Town boss Ian Holloway’s interview with Sky Sports this week, where he hinted at departures from his squad.

He said: “We’re a brilliantly run club. We are. We are one of the best.

Shows how full of bullshit Holloway is.
intercourse off Holloway, I will give you your 100 quid investment back

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I thought this. If your boss sent an email round saying we’re going get rid of some of you, not tell you who though, I think most people would struggle a bit

In my experience it causes most people to wobble when they hear that. Everyone gets distracted from the job and spends the time worrying and talking about it. Got to act quickly and decisively so everyone who's safe can move on and get on with performing again.

So amongst other things we’ve had...

- Wage cuts
- COVID clauses
- Agents
- Tough window
- Geography
- Lack of time to prep
- Lack of fitness
- Too many games to play
- Too many away trips in a week
- Injuries
- Referees
- COVID lay offs
- The fans not being allowed in
- 3 subs only

What’s Holloway’s next excuse?

I think Holloway’s name and his £500 quads worth of shares are going to keep him in a job for a good while yet.

He gets a bad press but he works hard and he gets no support.  At another clubI feel he'd be banging them in or getting a lot of assists.

Sorry but ive still not forgiven him for last season
I agree though. He'd probably bang em in for the tavern

February 26, 2020, 10:11am

Contrary to most i didnt rate Green in preseason nor has my opinion ever changed. Imo he got away with it having Hanson near him who was on fire (still is)
But after our great start i must have been wrong 🤣

What I've never like about him....
A few years ago there was piece on talksport about players who 'give there all' but don't actually give alot!
Players who the fans warm to due to their perceived 'effort' but their team mates know aren't putting in a shift.
Ive never really played the game so i might be wrong about most things, but ray parlour and the like were talking about how these sorts of players exist at clubs, they even stuck a name on it and I thought Green reeked of it a long time ago. Long before his wonder strike at Chelsea!

He seems to move alot but looks more like he's doing a dance around the ball/play to make himself look better than he actually is. Surely 3 managers would see this straight away?? Obviously not?
Why would he play like that under so many managers. A professional.
I have no idea but this is the impression he's always given me

Even so I was surprised he turned up late when he'd been handed a start. Even more surprised that we've kept him as long as we have

When did Holloway ever keep it brief, he'll bullshit on and on with totally confusing crap no one can understand as usual

I know. But now of all times he needs to keep his trap shut beyond giving the briefest of apologies.

He was the only player who carried any threat on the pitch to be fair. Don't give a excrement what they do when the game is over, as long as they do well on it.

If I was Edwards I'd be angling for a recall and a loan to a club less shambolic.

Unfair. If there was a positive, it would be Edward's effort and desire to move into positions whereas Gibson was on his heels too often and too keen to point his gloved finger at others.
Seniors like Hendrie and Rose were really poor today. Ask why Scannell even gets on the bus when Jackson has been frozen out. Ask why we we failed to make kick off until 3.02 p.m.

Something very wrong in the dressing room.

think you have to temper some of that with comments from a former player like Bolland who ran through walls for this club....when you are changing formation , positions and players as often as we are then you cannot as a player build any understanding with your team and partners....and that was just in this one game !!! never mind every other week as well.

Players look like they are so lost....that is the fault of the manager.

Not just the dressing room,, look around BP, look around Cheapside, look at the club's penny pinching, excuse making  and pedantic ways, look at the club's infrastructure, look at the club's media output, look at the unskilled people in charge of every department, look at the pride our board has in keeping us from not being a Bury and is anyone surprised players don't respect GTFC when the going gets tough on the pitch?

Not making excuses but the score line doesn’t surprise me, finances always play a part and Tranmere are well funded by all accounts, so their players have no reason not to put in a shift. If I was a town player my head would be elsewhere following Holloway’s recent Cull comment, very unprofessional.

SHOCKINGLY INEPT DISPLAY Windsor tries, Edwards decent, centre backs no protection but also slow to react. Too often in open play we have 6 players on our own 6 yard line marking no one while opponents line up 20 yrds out ready to attack the ball when it comes in. Too many changes every game constant changing of formations. Impossible to create any structure of play if you cant build relationships on the pitch.

1st goal, poor ball into a player under pressure by Clifton, they break and score. 2nd what was McKeown thinking belting the ball to Clifton in our 3rd of the field which resulted in a corner and goal. 3rd goal, Rose making a crazy challenge for the penalty. 4th everybody just backed off.  Countless unnecessary fouls in dangerous areas. Toothless up front and poor distribution all over the field. One of the most inept performances I have witnessed watching Town akin to the drubbing we got at Oldham. Relegation fight nailed on
