Admitted early days but good to see proper clubs up there fighting to get back into the Football League rather than the tinpot clubs that keep cropping up these days with rich owners.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Wrexham struggling in the league though.  They also lost in the FAC yesterday, 4-0 to Solihull Moors.

Chesterfield are in the bottom 4.

(We are fortunate to get out when we did).

Anyone know how long the likes of Stockport, Torquay and Hartlepool have been down there now?

Chesterfield & Notts Co are fairly recent, and yet Wrexham seem to have been down for well over a decade if not approaching two?

Wrexham were relegated in 2008 so are now in their 13th season down there.

Stockport were relegated in 2011 and to the Conference North 2 seasons later.

Torquay were relegated in 2014 and again in 2018 and Hartlepool were more recent being relegated in 2017.

Newport and Barrow made it back after much longer than any of the others, including Wrexham.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I'll happily see Hartlepool remain non league for years, proper football club (whatever that actually means) or not.

Hadn't twigged that Wrexham had been down there so long - they are quite a big club - huge catchment area, albeit not very densely populated.

How many did they bring to Wembley in 2013? About 35,000 wasn’t it, despite much of Wales and South West England being absolutely caked in snow at the time.

They’ve had quite a few ex-Town players there in recent years too - Pearson, Mackreth, Summerfield, Hall-Johnson, Yussuf, Jennings.

If I could pick one non-league club to come back up, it’s be Wrexham for me.

Feel for Wrexham, they lost two playoff semis and then a final back to back and then didn't make it back into the playoffs the next season. Could well have happened to us that. The first of those three seasons they got something ridiculous like 99 points but Fleetwood pipped them to the title with 100+.
