Just had to share this with you, I hope you don't mind!. Great news today that my book Mendelevski's Box won the bronze medal in the Historical Fiction event/era section of the prestigious Readers Favourite competition in the USA.

I was hoping for a place in the final but to win the bronze medal beating a number of well established authors from all over the world was beyond my wildest dreams, can't believe it.

Congratulations Swin, I don't read books but my wife does and she said it was very good.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

That's some achievement, well done.

I'll have to get round to reading it at some point.

I'm trying to write another, my publisher wants me to but Coronavirus has stopped me going to the Netherlands this year and I need to do research and clear it with any living relatives on Urk of the people I am basing the actual events part of the book around.

Its set in May1940 and starts with the occupation of the Netherlands and how it affected the fishermen of Urk. Now you've virtually read it all already!

I'm hoping to go next June while the resceduled Euros are on The dutch have three home games in Amsterdam and the city will be buzzing
