So what do you think Ollie’s motives were for him purchasing around £100k, don’t think it’s because he supports the club ?

Must be the reason. The club have never paid any dividends to shareholders in its history.  He has seen the books and studied the history so knows full well what he is getting into.

Is it a condition of purchase that you have to hand them over to the major shareholder for nothing?

Absolutely not, the purchaser (of the club) has to buy them from you. Usually at an agreed price - you will often see news reports about companies being bought for "X amount per share, valuing the company at X". That is the major shareholders saying to the purchaser we will sell you the company for a specific amount, which equates to a figure per share.

I assume that you're a small shareholder so in reality it's unlikely that you will have to sell your shares, a buyer is interested in the significant numbers of shares held by major shareholders. Although, when Louis Edwards became majority shareholder in Man Utd the story goes that he bumped up his shareholding by going round to small shareholders and buying their shares from them, virtually on their doorstep.

Ollie said he wanted a project before he came to us.

So in my mind he not only wanted to manage he wanted to be on the board.

I also believe he will increase his amount when he becomes chairman.

I hope he has not agreed to buy Fentys lot but put new money into the club.

Could there be a bidding war that will see my shareholding increase in value, do I need to inform the tax man.

Be careful on this as sometime in the future the trust may be convinced of handing over their shares to ensure the “ survival “ of the club.

I’m sure when the trust was handed the shares from Mr Parker, something was put in place so the mariners trust could not increase their shareholding. But I might be wrong.

Say I bought £1,000 of shares in this scheme.

Would I be able to sell them back if I wanted at a later date?

His motive was so he can’t get treat like excrement and sacked like he did at his last job.
