Just after Ian Turner signed for Southampton, Town played Lincoln in a Lincolnshire Cup game on a Tuesday night. he used to drink in the Queen's along with Mike Czuczman, my local. He was sat looking despondent. by himself, on the train so I sat down with him and we shared my carry out on the way to Lincoln. He told me Lawrie Mac had wanted him to play in Terry Paine's testimonial, that same night, but he didn't know the guy so didn't bother. Think he realised me might get into bother, but he made a great name for himself at the Dell, and was a really nice guy.

Played darts in the New Imperical Club, in the same team as Bobby Ross (an excellent thrower) George McLean and Sir Matt. Great days for me, because they were all boyhood heroes of mine.

Met numerous players during Sir Alan's first stint at BP because he used to send players in to sign balls for us in the old Programme shop, now the club shop. Dave Wagstaff, ex Hull pulled up there one day, and was trying to get us to bulk buy those car flags that attached to your windows at the door. Nice chap, but he went away empty handed despite us getting him to sign some old Hull programmes for us.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

Sat next to Kev Moore at school, took Tony Ford's place at Nunthorpe {he had flu and was two years younger}). Played in the same team as Paul Emson as well as Kev Moore. Played against Duncan Mackenzie with a tennis ball. Played against Terry Donvan at under 16  we lost 10-0 and he scored all 10. Played against Glen Cockerill vs Reynolds school. Dave Boylen worked for Archie Needham in the summer, yes players had summer jobs. He used to deliver our meat. Went to Blackpool when Town lost 2-1 in the first round of FA Cup. Half time got a drink and stood next to Billy Beaumont. My son was best friends with Brandon Buckley Sir Alan dropped him off once. Graham Taylor was my favourite player, always had a cheeky smile. Many years later met at Bradley sports had a chat told him about a game I remembered against Bristol Rovers. He'd scored and he remembered it as well. Really nice man.

Your story reminded me that I met Aidan Davison at Orlando airport while he was still a town player. Both of us coming back from holiday. Nice guy, happy to have a chat and seemed like a lovely family as well.

Not as impressive as George Best though Swin!!

Probably not as drunk either mate

I've sold fish to Norman Hunter a few times,  also Jack Charlton once bought some fish of me. Norman Hunter said he remembered getting sent off at Blundell Park with in his words " that illegitimate Bobby Cummings " šŸ¤£šŸ˜Š

I remember that incident.  Cummings steamed into him and Hunter got up and nutted him.  Not someone you should mess with.

Not met any town players even though my mum's best mate dated Tony Ford and my second cousin lived next to Dean Crombie.

I have been shown to a seat at Sheffield United by Tony Curie, I have met Edwin Starr in his undies, had a drink with Billy Crudup and most strangely had the guitarist of the Young Rascals sipping tea in a place i used to rent.

You win!!.  Reminded me though that Graham Taylor told us to eff of when we chucked stones at the Watford keeper when they were training at Wintringham School.

Scraping the barrel for celebrities who donā€™t have an ongoing restraining order against me...

I flew to ZĆ¼rich in Dec 2018 next to Man Cityā€™s third choice keeper Ante Muric, a day after he had saved a penalty in a League Cup match (think he was star struck, he pretended not to know me). There wasnā€™t much room, he could spread himself like Lurpak. Too close to pap.

I was on an EasyJet flight from Madrid to Liverpool with Pepe Reina after he had presumably been to the Real vs Barca champions league semi in 2011. Papped the back of his head and treasure that bald, blurred photo like my first born.

In non-goalkeeper spottings:

Peter Crouch in Manc Airport (in his Liverpool days) - too intrusive to pap. Long legs, long face, think Liverpool had just lost a Europa league match

Natalie Cassidy (Sonia from Eastenders) in a bar in London -
too demeaning to pap. She was with Rhona Cameron but had to ā€œask jeevesā€ who she was weeks later

Michael Aspel in Amalfi - too young to pap (me, not him)

Kelvin Fletcher (and wife) flying home on NYD the other month - too jet-lagged to pap

Gillian McKeith (You Are What You Eat) in David Bann in Edinburgh - too constipated to pap (and poop)

Jack P Shepherd (Corrieā€™s Baby David) - Iā€™ve seen him in Leeds and Manchester so many times heā€™s starting to get nervous - unpappable under any pressure

Sophie Raworth in her Look North days in Leeds - felt wrong to pap, so I didnā€™t. I think I only had a Nokia 3310 anyway so I probably could have snaked her at best

Duncan Preston collecting his leaky lamb bhuna from a takeaway - too angry to pap

Chris Moyles - Tesco Express, Leeds - couldnā€™t get a clear shot

Lord John Tondeur - tried to pap him but got detention

Gok Wan - Leeds - papped but too blurry for commercial use.

Gareth Southgate at York station in his Middlesbrough days (pre waistcoat and England). Looked too forlorn to pap

Dean Windass - we were both too drunk to remember what was papped and what wasnā€™t.

Ex-Taiwanese & Man Utd starlet Yeung Li Sharpe in Headingley. He was very friendly (possibly inebriated) and, after crossing my fingers and telling him I hated Lee Dixon, he obligingly signed by laminated GTFC 02/03 fixture list. By the end of a sweaty Otley Run it had rubbed off (the signature, not Sharpie) and was lost forever; possibly a metaphor for his career.

...Barrel well and truly scraped
