With an ageing population which puts a greater burden on healthcare, this is nothing short of scandalous. Makes my blood boil every time Johnson or some other Tory MP does the soundbite about record levels of expenditure on the NHS. If you increased it by 1p per year, it would still be a record.

On Social Care, I agree that none of the parties (except perhaps the Greens?) have had the balls to admit the problems we face and the cost of the solutions.

But that is only a part of the whole "waiting times" clusterf**k isn't it?
In 2001 (4 years into a Labour government trying to undo 18 years of Tory mismanagement of the NHS) I waited 11 months for surgery on a potentially life threatening cardiological condition. In 2008 I waited NINE WEEKS for similar surgery.


The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.
