It wasn’t in great nick on Tuesday and as many have said, it’s been in poor condition all season...clubs at our level, and understandably, don’t tend to have the cash to spend on the pitch. Then add the excrement weather and it doesn’t bode well for clubs...

In all seriousness, the state of the pitch in recent year’s has been poor and this year even more so...

I have noticed that. It was always like a bowling green. I wonder what has changed?

Could be a number of reasons, lack of investment, age of the pitch, removal of humps, poor weather, a lot games in short space of time...

Fair points. Just always remember in the 90s, 00's and even the last few years it being in a much better state. With the ball now staying on the deck a lot more got to be worth pushing money towards the playing surface.

I know the Championship clubs have some sort of artificial layer under the turf which binds the turf better - I can't quite remember exactly but I did look up once why their pitches looked so  pristine even in the winter. And they have a sprinkler system, as indeed Blackpool do.

I am sure our groundsman would like extra spending on the pitch but like everything else it will have to wait for the new stadium apparently.

I’ve read about that stuff. I understand that it’s probably well above what we have to spend but although we joke about having to wait for a new stadium, the one thing that needs attention and investment is the pitch.

What was the actual reason for removing the humps? Also, haven’t the club also claimed to have made cutbacks in relation to the pitch...that may be balderdash but I’ve seen it written somewhere...
