Don't think Jevons was even playing up front that day!

Isaiah Rankin and Lee Thorpe were leading the line, and Jevons was on the left. Referee Mark Halsey had a decent career in the Prem (and returned a couple of years later to allow Whittle to smack Shearer in front of the TV cameras!).

Rankin was on loan from Barnsley at the time and took great delight showing their fans the name on the back of his shirt when he scored.

I don't think he played for Barnsley again after that and they terminated his contract. He then signed for us until the end of the season before coming back again a couple of seasons later.

I remember that they brought Micky Boulding on as a sub in the 2nd half. I think we were about 5-1 up at the time.
