The 4-2 home win against Stockport in 1990 was my first ever Town match. I was only 7 but was hooked from then on.
I think we beat them 4-2 away the same season

Was that the day the pitch was really icey and only Diddy Gilbert could keep his footing?
Yep, I remember it well, was there with my Dad on the terrace between the Pontoon and the Main Stand.

Didn’t we beat Boston 4-2 from 2-0 down?, Peter Bore got a couple or maybe three?
That was 3-2. First day of 06/07, Graham Rodger's finest moment. Bore came off the bench for his debut and scored 2 and set 1 up and was gonna be topscorer as we romped to the title after playoff final disappointment the season before.

There was a 4-2 win the other year against Lincoln in the County Cup.

To be fair, the top scorer bit was true! (joint at GTFC)

We did beat Alfreton 4-2 at home.
But the very first season we played them, we beat them 5-2 at home (Hearn with 4) and 5-2 away.
Incidentally, we've played them 8 times, won 7, drew the other 1.
Aggregate score across those 8 games? 31-10 - that's an average of just over 5 goals per game!

That would be around the same time of the Liam Hearn/Matt Green argument. I used to post on a general non-league forum and there was a big argument between Grimsby and Mansfield fans as to who was the best striker, Liam Hearn or Matt Green! All Mansfield fans were adamant that it was Matt Green.

Well I have a spare few hours and using Rob's database I found out the following regarding 4-2 wins for Town. In total we have won 4-2 36 times during our history, the first being in 26/12/1895 against Arsenal, 27 home and 9 away. In 1990 we have the most 4-2 wins in a season,3, including a double against Stockport.
Going through the scores I noticed a few interesting things.
In the seaon of 2005/6 we played the following teams Darlington Barnet Rusden Stockport Chester Boston Notts C Bury Wrexham Torquay
10 teams that are no longer in the football league.
1979/80 season went on a 15 mtach unbeaten until the end of the season. 1997/98 played 68 games in the double winning campaign. 160/61 3 consecutive games were 6 goals scored by a team Halifax at home won 6-1, Bolton away lost 2-6 and Tranmere away won 6-3 averaging 8 goals per match. 1955/6 only dropped 4 points in the final 17 games of the season 14 wins 2 draws 1 lost, total of 30 points out of 34. 1951/55 only dropped 4 points in the final 20 games of the season, including 11 consecutive wins, 17 wins, 2 draws 1 lost, total of 36 points out of 40. 1933/34 played Man Utd on 25th & 26th Dec winning 3-1 away and 7-3 at home. 1920/01 quirky season, played our only season in Division 3 South, 32 fixtures were we played one team, follwed by the reverse fixture next game.
