Someone's got to start it.

Come on Town let's make use of this game in hand.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Get in!

Vernam's shot poorly dealt with by the keeper and Garmston followed up like a goal poacher!

Blow me down, logged in two minutes late and we've scored. Interesting to see how many are there tonight after Saturdays loss, plus Tuesday crowds are always lower

Great shot by Benson crashes off the bar.

JT goes full Andy Townsend by describing it as "hit too well"!

Great shot but if it was hit too well it'd be in the back of the net!

Their players already going down shot over a nothing challenge, they seem to be targeting Hanson.

Bit of an all over the place game. Started out with good football from both sides then Newport resorted to falling over and harassing the ref which seems to have worked somewhat. They struggled after giving away that free kick and going behind again though.

The only way I think we screw this up now is if somebody gets sent off from all their falling over.

What a great half of football, quick pass and move, some fantastic dribbling and cheaky touches. Ref started well, but has started blowing his whistle everytime Newport fall over a blade of grass and I think there could easily be a red card if we're not careful.

We've scored two cracking goals and concede another through more shocking defending. Tilley for me is brilliant today. I've been a little insire since his arrival and was wondering what Holloway had seen in him, but he's certainly showing it tonight. He's doing everything Green should and doesn't. He's holding up the ball, breaking with pace, winning headers beating two or three men at a time. Garmston is another. Not too impressed with his first two outing but certainly wasn't a bad player. He's also having a cracking game as shown with his goal and the way he's getting up and down the pitch today. Whitehouse, Benson and Clifton are having a great game in midfield as well. I thought the midfield was nonexistant against Swindon but they're trying to put on a show tonight.

Looking forward to another half thats exactly the same. UTM!

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

Good end to end game with more goals likely.

Both defences very poor but town improved towards the end of half.

Prediction. Win 4.2

Good end to end game with more goals likely.

Both defences very poor but town improved towards the end of half.

Prediction. Win 4.2

Genius. Lottery numbers and Gold Cup winner please Pete

Bit of a curate's egg of a game. Some really good stuff. Then scrappy.

Newport got their just desserts. They were playing well after that early goal and then they started all the gamesmanship. Shot themselves in the foot because if they'd concentrated on playing properly they could have got a result.

Get in! 4-2 FT

Tilley seems to be settling in just nicely. Benson's free kick was just awesome. (C)Hewitt seems to be playing quite well to me doing some good stuff. Macca had a good game too.

3 points, can't moan. Just wish I put a tenner or more on Amond to score, would've been a free £50/60!

I like that we've become a very confident attacking side and exciting to watch. Defence can leave a lot to be desired sometimes with poor mistakes but as long as we score more goals it's all good  .

Newport seemed like they are capable of playing football but are coached to be a scrappy side that tries gamesmanship and the ref I think was conned quite a few times and intimidated into giving them more decisions than against them.

Great 3 points and we have somme proper ballers in the team.

If I have to be critical of something that was frustrating me second half, where was our width going forward? We was so narrow. Obviously IH is by far a better coach then I'll ever be and maybe it was to stop them playing but with people like Vernam, Tilly, Wright who have genuine pace i thought iitd be the case. Anyway, very good result! Utm

That’s incredible really, average of just over 4 goals per game. Certainly more entertaining, but we’re shipping too many poor goals and that needs to change if we’re to really push on.

I think Newport lost this when matt went off - he was causing all sorts of trouble especially against Pollock - a good win though especially scoring 4 goals ( as Pete predicted 2 mins. from the end ) against one of the supposedly best defences in the division

Tilley MOM. Thought we deserved overall. They were poor and for parts dragged us down to their level. We look a million miles away from the team that went out the cup to them.

Being optimistic*, Saturday's game is a six-pointer. Win that and the game in hand and it's 5 points behind them who are currently 7th.

* being very optimistic in fact because it relies on others dropping points too.

Lose and we can kiss the dream goodbye for this season.

A few observations on our position tonight...

We’re now just 2 points behind Forest Green in 10th, who were in the play-off spots when we played them a weekend.

A win on Saturday for Town, and a defeat for EITHER Colchester or Port Vale will have us 8 points off the play-offs with a game in hand and 11 games remaining.

We’re now 22 points above bottom placed Stevenage, which must be our largest cushion from a football league relegation zone in some years (possibly 2006).

I still don’t believe we can make the play-offs, but there’s certainly a more positive complexion on things these days.

Great result played really good footy in patches, still dont think our pitch is condusive to the passing game and really needs some work in the summer. Everyone had a decent game but what a difference when Clarke came on at the end, totally influenced the game and brought us back under control. Disappointed they took their booked defender off at half time as he was struggling with through balls and as likely to get a red as Hanson.  4-2    happy to see that every week even if the odd one has to be a defeat. I agree. I think tonight and the Colchester game were great examples of Ollie using the squad to its potential. The teams have been changed around a lot yet by and large it's worked, as have his subs.

Fully deserved the win and Newports spoiling tactics are tiresome, the constant moaning by their support staff to the 4th official needs looking at.

Some well taken goals but we need to stop shipping goals, overall pleased with many performances tonight onwards and upwards.

Went with my brother tonight, and like me, he got disillusioned and hasn't attended many games this season. From August until tonight, he had only seen us score three goals all season and 2 of those were away at Chelsea and Bradford. Tonight he saw us score 4 in 90 mins.

Did anyone get a good view of the nose busting challenge Hanson put in on their big centre half? I was in the Main Stand and wasn't sure if it was an elbow. Looked like nothing at the time but reckon he broke his nose.

It looked an accidental collision to me. A bit of an awkward challenge as he was turning into him as he followed the ball. Certainly didn't look like he was trying to stick one on him.

It looked an accidental collision to me. A bit of an awkward challenge as he was turning into him as he followed the ball. Certainly didn't look like he was trying to stick one on him.

Yup.

Very similar to Justin Whittle on Shearer

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Happy days. 😄

Justin’s fame has lasted a lot longer than Shearer predicted in some quarters.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Billy Clarke is class, bossed it from the wing when he came on & see what Olly sees in Tilley & Benson what a goal
But Harry MOM ran his socks off

Tellywag has him bottom of the ratings. How is that.? Tilley surprised me Benson is a class above. Clarke is the glue though.

A technicality I know but was the throw in leading to their second goal a foul throw? Looks like he had his foot on the line when he took it.

A player when taking a throw may have part of a foot or his feet on or behind the line. If one foot is totally over the line and the other is not then it is deemed as a foul throw. Obviously having both feet over then that is a foul throw as well.
