Vernam looking a threat for us.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Very impressed with Grandin
Hes everywhere 👍

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Walsall, Cambridge, Newport all presently losing.  If Town could win and they all stay as is we could leapfrog three places above all of them. Come on.

Not much to say on that half really, winds causing havok for both sides and just as we were starting to get into our stride it was half time. Hopefully we carry on from where we stopped and use the wind to our advatage and pepper their goal with some long range efforts.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

Considering the conditions it's been a good game. Both teams looking to get the ball down and play.  We move the ball around well it's just the final ball that's letting us down. They've a couple of shots but were well off target. Macca tipped one over the bar. Well impressed with the new lad, always available to take the ball and tidy with it.

We have the wind second halve but I hope we still keep playing instead of launching it.

Town are playing well to a man.  Patient buildups as we started pressing them back more and more.  Need to get off on the front foot straight after the break but also have to keep focused.  Morecambe are no muppets.

Get in!

Free kick from Benson takes a huge deflection off the wall and clips the bottom of the bar and goes in.

Much deserved, been by far the better side in the second half

I wouldn’t be surprised if Grandin’s pass success rate isn’t 100%. And not all short square passes either. Good performance all round, our possession stat was 63.7% according to iFollow.

That's probably a good thing. If we want to sneak in the playoffs, we need the teams around the playoffs to drop points.

Not realistically going to happen, but keeps it interesting for now.

Good performance. This side is much better for my health.  I don't seem to be so nervous anymore.  Walsall's 93 minute goal dropped us a place.

We dropped 2 places as Cambridge got a late winner too. We were 13th for a while.

Great win today , these are the teams you have to be able to break down every time and even when it was getting on a bit in the 2nd half I was never in doubt we’d do it

Was thinking the same.

He’s the kind of player you don’t notice but does nothing wrong , keeps it simple and find a town player with every pass

Another good win and confidence must be growing, we seem more self assured and playing with a bit more grit, well done Town.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

What position we are after the game is irrelevant, it’s how many points we are away from 7th place i.e. the play-offs.

Don’t forget teams above us will be playing each other so somebody will always be dropping points, if we keep picking up wins we’ll climb the table but I believe it’s just too late for us to do anything this season but let’s have a go anyway

Are we any closer to getting promoted since Hurst has been here? No

Has he been given time to achieve promotion by the chairman and fans? Yes

Hurst out

I would have said I was a pragmatist about what type of football we played before IH got the job but it is so good to see proper footballers like Grandin, Benson and Clarke at BP in a black and white shirt.

Ollie is putting his simple thoughts in place.

Pass the ball on the ground accurately to each other, then keep moving to be ready for the next pass.

That sounds so easy, but takes fit players to keep moving and draw opponents out of position. Hanson pulling out to draw a defender to make a gap for Vernam's 3rd goal - classic example.

Same when defending - the flank wing back attacks and snother drops back to cover the space.

Ollie is getting that message across - Grandin is another new example - nothing wasted so no counterattacks by misplaced passes.

Players should improve from.simple messages and good training.

Didn't some folk say Grandin was an underwhelming signing whose legs must have gone, fritted around from club to club too much and was now playing his trade in some nothing league so mustn't be much cop? 🤣

I wouldn’t be surprised if Grandin’s pass success rate isn’t 100%. And not all short square passes either. Good performance all round, our possession stat was 63.7% according to iFollow.

Pedants corner: double negative? 🤔😝

Football is a simple game - as Ollie and the team are demonstrating so well.

We are in danger of having a positive goal-difference and being in the top half of the table.

Who would have thought this possible only 2 months ago?!
