The ground is at the end of a housing estate with no parking or  pub close by.  The only place to park is at the ground and you need to go on line and pre-book it with the club.  Think it was £4.00.

Another soulless out of town stadium. You can park in the park and ride car park near the ground but there are no pubs within easy walking distance of the ground. Some decent pubs in Colchester Town Centre though but that's about 3-4 miles away from the stadium.

Colchester is one of the worst away days...aside from a convoluted ticketing process, the place is just devoid of anything and with little chance of a pub or parking other than at the ground, it makes for little fun.

Always worries me too becauee you can imagine our cronies involved with this so called stadium development probably think Colchester is a good model...which I suppose it is if you’re a director getting fed and watered in a warm, generic corporate space. As a fan it’s an awful experience and proves that out of town stadia are or should be a thing of the past. It’ll take ten years to even redevelop around the ground there, and still it’ll have little in the way of pubs etc. The stadium and club is hardly at the centre of the community.

But enjoy your visit haha...

Just a short taxi ride away. The Ground is A12 Junction 28. Next junction the Pub/Hotel.

This is what a Colchester fan on 1FF wrote last season after I asked about getting to the ground from the train station...

"It's pretty much one road, the first half of it is uphill. The Dog & Pheasant pub is about half way, so probably 15 minutes from the station to the pub and then another 15 minutes from the pub to the ground when you leave. There's a chip shop and a newsagents next to the pub too. I've seen plenty of away fans milling around outside them before if I've walked to the ground that way.

On a map, you come out the station and walk up Mile End Road. The pub and chip shop are at the junction with Mill Road and then you carry on up Boxted Road for the football. I've often parked on that stretch between the pub and Boxted Road, so it isn't far from there."

According to this years Football Ground Guide, The Dog & Pheasant is "home fans" only now, though if you're not wearing colours you will probably get in.

Quoted Text
'The Dog and Pheasant on Nayland Road, is probably the closest to the stadium, although it is still around 3/4's of a mile away. However, it is only admitting home fans'.

Oh good to know, cheers Les. I was weighing up whether to wear a Town shirt tomorrow but that's made the decision for me as it sounds like the only pub I'll go past en route!

Do you have to pay for the park and ride area in advance? 😎

You can get a drink at the ground and stand in the car park not bad for a warm evening when I went but not in February
