I believe his first appearance at BP was for Southampton in their promotion season in the early 60s. I know Brian was known personally to a lot of posters as a footballer and as a cricketer. Brian was without doubt one of the most talented players ever to be signed for the Mariners. Many put him in the same bracket as Jeff Whitefoot for skill and vision. As a kid,i used to go round to his house in Robson Road for his autographs and a glass of coke, he was a guy who had time for anyone, a great half back for us, I have very fond memories of him, R.I.P Brian, and my very best wishes to your family.

I was just looking at the photo of Brian on the ball and thinking of seeing him play. I was stood by the players' tunnel one game when the sides ran out and Brian had the biggest pair of thighs I had ever seen, they dwarfed the other 21 pairs!
