Not so quietly as he said in one of his interviews he wants to see Grimsby back in the championship.

Fenty actually followed up from that statement saying they've identified the squad needs a boost and he's willing to buy a couple hundred thousand worth of shares to help us get 'one, two, three' additional bodies in.

He said despite Ollie buying shares he would still be doing this but whether Ollie has wangled his magic shipping three out so Fenty no longer has to I'm not sure.

If we end with another two or three I think it will be safe to say Fenty has splashed out.

Also, Ollie said with a tight wage structure you need to get player's in who can play a number of positions and that's exactly what he has done. Working magic on a shoestring.

Since we look unlikely to go either up or down this season, I'd rather any investment to bring more/better players in comes next season than this season. Wait until we're safe and give the youngsters a chance to show what they can do.

I cant believe that it was only 4-5 weeks ago that fans were saying that they would be happy (and the board) to just get through this season, as it was highly unlikely that we would get relegated due to Macclesfields financial position. Now look at the positivity around the place, fantastic turnaround, well done IH. UTMM

Following on from this JF told MJ his budget for the season and if he used it all up in the summer then, come the January transfer window, if he wanted to make any additions to the squad then it would mean an equivalent number leaving. MJ new the score but used a part of his budget to sign 2 questionable players, Green and Ogbu, who won't have been cheap. One has already gone and IMO Green won't see out his contract with Olly in charge.

good job we weren't relying on Macc - their HMRCE hearing was adjourned for 10 weeks yesterday as all parties obviously seem fairly confident that the sale will go through and the bill will be paid

Fair point but if you can get the likes of Tilley tied down for next season and the balance of this season for Olly to mould them into what he wants then that surely is a good thing. Building for the future isn't just developing our own youngsters but young players not required by other clubs, especially those from higher in the football pyramid.

Yeah I read on the bbc website that it was adjoured because the club have agreed a sale, whether this is a tactic to stall who knows.  Aren't they due another points deduction ?

You would expect so as they failed to play that home game v Plymouth just before our Boxing Day visit. Why it takes EFL to get these things decided is ludicrous.

What was all the suspended points about?  I have a feeling if Macc get taken over the EFL wont dock them points, it'll make an interesting relegation fight.

I get your point but standing still is always a dangerous thing. We piffed about thinking we was safe when Luton were deducted and paid the ultimate price the next season.

By squad building now and getting players tied down for 18 months plus we can develop our squad, way of playing and togetherness to really hit the ground running with a few more tweaks next preseason instead of wholesale changes and time and points being wasted getting to know each other.
