That’s not entirely correct, I seem to remember the touch lines were moved inward about 400mm each side, a couple of seasons back.

Can't alter pitch sizes after  season begins . Only during close season and authorities have to be told of dimensions.

I can't for the life of me remember his first name or anything about him but I'm sure we had a winger called Martin who played a good number of games on the left wing (when wingers were number 7 or number 11)

It was before the season started.

Brian Hill and Bobby Cummings stood out for me, Dougie Collins was a bit slow, but had a trick or two. Always remember John Fielding goal at home to Hull, supposed to be a cross from the right wing and straight into the goal,

I remember Doug Collins being so fast that his legs ran away with him and he couldn't stop until he hit the fencing in front of the Pontoon still with the ball!

The Cowleys wanted a million for him in the summer though, didn't they? As far as I remember they pretty much said their incoming transfers would depend to a certain degree on how much they could get for him.

L1 seems to be a bit of a glass ceiling for these pet projects too so they'll have to do something the likes of Rushden and Diamonds, Crawley and Fleetwood all failed to do if they're to get to the second tier.

I agree - But I have never heard anyone suggest he is worth a million or thought he's worth that - I suppose if they did they would have offered him more than 6k at Huddersfield.

We had a Geoff Martin in the 60's IIRC. Wasn't he the Collins replacement?

Late starter as Dad didn't like football and had to take myself aged 15 mid nineties but still I see Childs, Oster, Donovan, Kingsley Black, Bonetti. Died a death since then with either pacey forwards being put on the wing, Coulson etc or versatile central midfielders, Toner and the like. Never the same.

Wasn't it Sladeball that shortened the width of pitch? Think we lengthened grass too 🙄... The signs were ominous from the start, we need to be eeking back that 80cm width preseason and stretching teams 👌

It could’ve been yes, I can’t remember exactly when it was .
