I heard on radio humberside that it’s 13 games now.
That cannot be correct or does that include that crappy cup competition that we never won a game in.

Yeah, since winning at Exeter it's 8 league games without a win plus 2 Chuckatrade and 2 FA Cup games, so that 12 in all competitions and we haven't scored in the last 6 league games!

Grimsby 0 Mansfield 1
Stevenage 2 Grimsby 1
Grimsby 0 Leyton Orient 4
Cambridge 0 Grimsby 0
Northampton 2 Grimsby 0
Grimsby 0 Cheltenham 0
Grimsby 0 Swindon 3
Carlisle 0 Grimsby 0

Plus 1-1 at home to Newport in the FA Cup, losing the replay 2-0 and lost 3-2 at Sunderland and 2-1 at home to Leicester Kids in the Chuckatrade.

So the obvious stat. is one goal in eight league games - which backs up my stance on other threads about the strikers - not a management issue.
Any new manager can shuffle this pack - but I fear the same result.

In fact - through the team - who is likely to 'chip in' with a goal? Luke Waterfall with a set piece maybe - and that's it.

I'm sure everyone at Blundell Park can see the progress we've made under AL, and fully agree that he's on the verge of great things. Lets give him until the end of January and if we still haven't won we'll get a new bloke in just after the window's shut.
We know you (the fans) like to see goals but the clean sheets we've kept are as good as hat tricks and the board are delighted that the club is saving a salary. Some of you may argue that the lack of entertainment is driving fans away but heh ho, Rome wasn't built in a day so lets pretend everything is lovely

1 goal in 8 games is embarrassing.

Considering that Jolley rebuked the suggestion that 4-3-3 is actually 4-5-1, we may as well have been playing 4-6-0 for all the good this system has done us since the end of September.

I appreciate we created chances against Cheltenham and Carlisle, and AL seems to have got at least some response from the players. But, as I've said on another thread, 5 games is too long a stretch to suggest we're simply unlucky in front of goal.

Only one goal in the last 8 league games,

I don't get to many games now days but I did see Rose smash that one into the back of the net.

So I should not grumble  ffs !!!!!!!!!

In past seasons goals have come from all over the park, the likes of Disley  and Pearson would chip in with 15 goals between them with the odd goal from others in midfield, This season our whole team seem to be void of goals not just the strikers

It is not just a pack shuffle that a new manager could do. It may be the strikers who are missing sitters but the way the side is playing we hardly ever get other players into the box other than set pieces. Our midfield players rarely get in front of the ball or arrive late for a cross. That is a manager’s issue. It is OK to be neat and tidy as we are trying to be but AL seems to have as little idea as Jolley on the importance of getting more players into the area.

The other thing about strikers, Vernam’s awareness of other players is not good. Just watching highlights he could lay the ball off much better. Maybe confidence, I don’t know but it needs fixing.

Have no fear, both the winless & goal-less runs are sure to end on Saturday.  We haven't won a league match at Blunder Park since 1969.

Mind you GY have never won a league match at Glanford Park / The Sahara Desert Sands Casino Stadium.

Well true, but it’s also true that Liverpool have never won the Premier League, which doesn’t sound right either, but of course it IS true.

Anyway, there’s no doubting it, Scunny are favourites this Saturday and we need to seriously buck the recent trend to get a result.

Just barely - those pesky bookies have it rizla-paper thin.  We are favourites by the square route of the width of a Gnats knob.

I remember David Sloan scoring a hat trick against us around about then. Also, had the dubious pleasure of playing against him in the Scunthorpe Sunday League 7th division around 1979 /80.

Ex-pro's can be an annoyance in amateur football.  I remember thinking Wayne Graves was 'busy', but average, for Scunthorpe.  When I played against him in Saturday League football he (seemingly effortlessly) extracted the urine from start to finish.

This is a mere fledgling in losing runs compared to past efforts. Plenty of scope for it to extend into the new year and beyond.

Yes it’s a poor losing run for us if the players put some serious non effort in i’m sure we can easily get it into the twenties.

Wasn't it 28 under Newell / Woods? That's the target, let's see if they can go down in style.
