Both teams in the news today.

Cambridge have announced plans for a new 12,000 seater stadium, to be built on greenbelt land.  The cost is £25 million, and they hope for some external funding.  (A very big ask).   No doubt that the Abbey Stadium is worth a lot for housing.  An usual aspect of the new stadium is that it will glow Amber at night (their team colour).

Macclesfield have been featured this week in the BBC news, talkSPORT and The Sun.  There are still  serious problems with paying wages, potential strikes and the winding up petition.

Sol Campbell supported the petition as he claimed that he was still owed £180,000.  The petition was adjourned again for later this month.  For the umpteenth time.  They will lose patience soon.

On talkSPORT today there were disagreements between the players and the owner. The players have been training on alternative sites that are half-flooded.  The game on Sat against  Crewe was in doubt.

Fair play to Sol for hanging in there all that time,

Most would have jumped ship before being owed anywhere near that figure.

180k?! How much money was he on?!

(Considering he was there for 8 months and left by mutual consent with a year left)

No wonder they're going bust

Crazy pay, I guess with pay expectations like that he'd never have realistically been in the running for the town job.

What do the words "new stadium" mean?

Sol Campbell is backing the winding up petition as he is still owed around £180k.

All this makes GTFC seem very lucky-we could so easily have been in the same boat.

Did Macclesfield receive a fee for anyone in the summer? It is common practice for managers to earn a percentage of player sales.

A big bonus for keeping them in the league maybe? They looked dead and buried when he first went there.

Seems pointless staying in the league if the bonus to do it bankrupts you!

Even with all their problems, Macclesfield are still above us in the league.

Shocking really.
