I think the last time we had a new manager bounce was when Dave Moore had a spell in 2011.

All the bounce of a medicine ball.

The new manager bounce only ever seems to happen at other clubs.

Would Moore as head honcho with Davies have been better to give the players the rocket they need? I sense there's still disquiet and unrest with Limbrick being tarred as team Jolley.

That’s because the  ‘L’ and the ‘D’ buttons are worn out !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Dave Moore is a Physio, he has no coaching qualifications.  Alright, some might say, "but he's been at the club for years, he knows everybody", that's fine but it doesn't qualify him to be the manager of GTFC.

Didn’t stop him managing Scunthorpe, but then again it is only Scunthorpe 😆😆

Baldrick ! The only impression you can do is that of a man with no talent !!

I'm not suggesting DM should be put in charge but having coaching qualifications hasn't done much for us so far this season.

If that performance last night was a "new manager bounce" I would hate to think what the score would have been under the old regime. Plus, although we may talk of Dave Moore getting the job, without those very important FA coaching badges he cannot be appointed. I find this strange, as it could be claimed it's restriction of labour, where unless you have done the badges you cannot be a manager.

You can't drive an articulated lorry unless you have the correct licence.   I'm going back a long way now, but when I was an apprentice diesel fitter, I drove lorries all over the place once I reached the age of 21, Bedford RL's, Bedford TK's, Commer TS3's, 8 Wheel Fodens and Atkinsons, etc.  but when the HGV licence was introduced, I wasn't allowed to drive any lorries until I had the correct qualification, i.e. the HGV licence.

There are some jobs where a special qualification is necessary I suppose, like the law and medicine. But I agree, being a football manager or even a coach should not depend 100% on someone having this arbitrary licence. Has anyone noticed any improvement in overall standard of play that can be directly linked to coaches having a badge? Football is just an entertainment industry, do film producers only employ directors who have studied dramatic art, costumes and lighting?

This A Licence cr*p seems to give people delusions of grandeur when they no real on-the-ground experience.

Dave Moore has been caretaker manager for us twice, both times showing marked improvement in effort and organisation, like someone said he also manage Scunthorpe.

But if he can't because of that stupid new rule then he can't. My gut just tells me Limbrick sullied by Jolley allegiance just like Wilko couldn't get a tune out the players once Slade was dispensed having been part of the bald ones setup.

The last time:

Quoted Text
In February 2011 he took over as the club's caretaker manager following the sacking of Neil Woods[3] and on 5 March 2011 Moore and Robbie Stockdale took charge of the clubs 2-1 victory over A.F.C. Wimbledon.[4] Moore and Stockdale's reign lasted four games with victories against A.F.C. Wimbledon and Kettering Town, a draw with Gateshead and a defeat against Bath City. On 23 March 2011 Grimsby appointed Paul Hurst and Rob Scott as joint managers, and with there no need for an Assistant Manager at the club Moore reverted to his role as physiotherapist.

So 3 wins, a draw and a loss after Woodsy's failings... I'd take that kinda bounce right now. But no the powers that be think someone who never managed but got a fancy bit of paper better suited.

To be fair, we lost to plenty of unfashionable teams in that era! And I wasn't suggesting he should have got the job, just that he's always been a no-nonsense steady hand as a stop-gap measure.

Garth, for as much as I agree with you, I don't think AB himself wants to get involved...
Plus, to these modern thinking, papered to the hilt managers see AB as a dinosaur....
I'm not a believer in all these FIFA pro A licences myself...let's be honest, many a man on the street could study these courses but without some football nous and acumen you may as well wipe your ar$e on them...
Give me an old school manager who's truly learned his trade through hard graft, come through the league's and gained his stripes over these "certified" managers any day...

Footballers are brought up playing mainly a basic 4-4-2 passing game .None of the great managers worked any complicated system to achieve great success. Get them doing the basics right and a manager that knows the best talent at the right price in this division and the ones below.

Sounds easy enough!

Still think there will be a lengthy list of hungry non league managers who would all jump at the chance of the job. Just not sure I would like JF involved in the recruitment process.

Just put up all candidates for the job on here Mr Fenty and we will decide who should get the job in a poll, simples.

Anyone on here done one of those UEFA A course? Know what it actually involves to even get to that stage let alone qualify?

£2965 for the Pro Licence (which is the one Jolley has) according to this:

https://www.planetfootball.com.....a-pro-licence-at-19/

Interesting article 👍

But over £6k for the (inferior!) A Licence, where it pays to be a player: https://www.fourfourtwo.com/performance/training/what-happens-a-uefa-a-licence-course

Adkins was only the physio at Scunnie before he became manager but that didn't stop him becoming a half decent manager.
