Whose going to blame Jolley for this one then

No one....it's Fenty's fault

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Cats and dogs across NE Lincs breathe a sigh of relief and come out from behind the sofa. They aren’t getting kicked at Saturday tea-time this week.

It's that were the expression comes from? It's raining cats and dogs [out of a good kicking].

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

We seems to have a lot of home games getting called off recent years pitch isn’t what it used to be

The rain for the Derby/Macc games was biblical. Not many pitches would withstand that level of water. This current downpour has been consistent for a few days after quite a wet period in general. Nothing to do with the pitch. Or was it a hidden pop at costs being cut?

There’s been a few people asking why they didn’t put the covers on on Twitter to which they have been told that the pitch was covered. The fact the cover is 3x2m is irrelevant - the covers were on.

I am sure you are right. I can remember the BP pitch being playable after days of Noah’s floods.

The pitch used to be on a sand base inches below the surface and it was rare even for it to need forking let alone anything fancy like mechanical squeegeeing. The snag was that the grass never got strong roots and was easily ripped out because in those days there was this thing called tackling that they are not allowed to do now. The result was that the pitch resembled the Gobi Desert from March onwards apart from strips about 10 yards wide down the wings.

Some bright spark had the idea of digging it up and relaying turf with a water retaining soil layer. That was probably in the 70s/80s And they’ve played about with it more since then. So now when it rains the water sits on the top for ages. It probably evaporates and dries in the wind before any actually soaks away into the ground.

At least we’ll take our unbeaten run into another week.
