Feel a bit torn about this..

Would love to see the Mariners play at the Stadium of Light but will not be going while this competition is enabling the Premier League doctrine to be realised

I very much doubt that the future of this competition will be determined by whether one extra person attends a game or not. So take the opportunity to go see Town if you like, especially with it being so close to where you live.

Been there, done that. Kevin Ball kicked the living crap out of our players with impunity and it was one of the most one-sided refereeing performances I've seen. We lost the game, but I seem to recall Buckley mentioning in his after-match interview that he was proud how his players had performed against the 14 men of Sunderland (and he wasn't talking about subs!).

The less the better

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

Looks like we only ever had two games there? Stadium of Light opened for the 1997-98 season according to Wiki ( amongst others )

I was down south with a young family back then... now I'm an "empty nester" I could go and do it, no problem at all, but it won't be while we are in this competition. It just ain't the right thing to do

It would have been the 1998 game. I seem to recall that their first goal came from a corner when we were down to ten men. Livvo, one of our best aerial defenders, got taken out knee high clearing a ball in the box which the referee ignored/missed and was off the pitch after having treatment when they scored from the subsequent corner.

Funny the things you remember. Gulp, can't believe it was over 20 years ago!

And if everyfan thought like this then the games would have decent attendances and not be a failure.

You might as well go mate. It seems anyone can do pretty much whatever they like nowadays without and kind of criticism. I'd rather eat my head personally.

Go for it, when I was younger and hard up with a dodgy car in my early exile days I only ever got to matches local to Stoke, if you have chance to see us especially if you struggle to get to games you should do it.

Indeed, but I suppose that not every fan lives so close to an away ground but also so far from BP, which was kind of my point.

I might buy the iFollow "Video Match Pass" (£10) just because it's Town, money to GTFC and I can still boycott

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Bully?

I think the fact the lad asking shows he aware of the morale contention (maybe not the right use of English but you get me) gives him leeway.

If he lives far from home and we playing on his doorstep at a massive ground we likely rarely get to play at I think he could be forgiven for begrudgingly adding plus 1 to the attendance on thus one occasion.

But personally, I'd hold firm, I'd rather die in a ditch (to steal from a cliché bingo) than give credence to this abomination of a competition ever.

But I've been there twice at least following Town, he up in the North East where Town have no local fixtures what with not playing The Monkeyhangers or any of the other lot.

It's his choice with no negative peer pressure or that feeds into the bullying narrative, we just neutrally explain why we believe it's wrong. However if he does choose to attend (and there won't be that many in his position so it realistically wouldnt make that big a difference) he could at least give us a stellar low down if goings on.

After all we all interested from afar if the stiffs are much cop etc.

I'm gonna have a pop along to this, I work in Newcastle so it'll be good to get to a local game and watch some footy after I've finished.

Rather be a male masturbator than a scab.

Wouldn't it be good if both the Premiership and EFL signed an agreement stating that under no circumstances would premier 'B' teams or U21's ever be allowed into the league pyramid, then we could all start going or not to these games without anyone calling them childish names.
