Sick of this constant long ball. I know hanson is strong in the air but if we get it on the deck and stretch them Salford are there for the taking.

Problem is we don't have any players maybe other than Cook on the pitch who are capable of running with the ball and forcing them onto the back foot. Vernam is half decent at it but can't get in the team.

Our off the ball moment tonight has been appalling by the way. Whole team is static when we have the ball in their half. Making it easy for Salford to defend.

Bizaare substitution. Mattie Pollock on the bench, why on earth would you no go for the straight swap. Looks like he's switching Hendrie to left back, putting Gibson at centre back and Hewitt right back? I don't understand that. Instead of the one like for like change, you've two players out of position.

Well that first half was bloody frustrating.

We've been strong second half this season though, let's hope it continues.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

well what a weird half, not sure if itst he surroundings but seemed like a training game, slow paced , no one really busting a gut....Salford aren't showing anything but have scored from a sh1tty free kick....not sure if it was pure Macca error or a deflection on the way through.
Apart from one cross into Green early doors which he should have scored from we have done little....some real slow paced passing posession in which we hardly go forwards and then just some lumping it...Hanson is well marshalled, Ogbu not with it, Green not getting service....but Salford sitting in deep and getting men behind the ball which our one paced players cant break past and the bits that drop off Hanson are smothered by their numbers.
Hewitt may give us some extra dimension on the overlap but so far despite looking the better stronger side we have hardly mustered an attempt at goal.

Surprised at the time of the substitution, thought he could have gone with 10 until HT possibly a knee jerk reaction to bring on Hewitt? Maybe could have thought it through over the break

Ohman had pulled up and couldn't move so Gibson knocked it out so we could sub him off

Salford really are nothing 1-0 up without doing anything. Its like we're playing a 6-1-2-1 formation at times, when we have had possesion at the back sometimes both Cook and Hess have been stood between our centre halves so when we send it forward the half clearance always drops to Salfords midfield with no pressure, Hopefully we will have a proper go at them 2nd half. Assuming Gibson or Hendrie going to play centre half. If we play as well as we can we could win at a canter, but Salford are v quick on the counter.

On the stats we've been all over them but they have the all important stat unfortunately...
Moses is having a bit of a mare and Cook isn't quite as sharp as he has been, Green still looks like he's not right but Gibson is class..
We need to get at them and push on their defence, when we did they looked really shaky...just hope our second half performance is that of every game so far this season..

Our midfield is too defensive. We should be moving up as a three when we are attacking. No continuity between the three sections. Maybe we can get more down the wing and accurate crosses now Hewitt on.

Oldham revisited.
Gibson has looked poor. Must be a case of trying to please Newcastle by playing him. Would prefer ring. Would even more prefer Hendrie at left back and Hewitt rb. Hendrie balls forward have been v poor in their half so hopefully improve down that flank now Hewitt on.
Whitehouse hardworking but lacking in quality. Cook has been full of energy but very sloppy with his passing. Somehow he seems better as an impact player, but so does Wright so maybe we will have to rely on him coming on today?
The front 3 haven't really geĺled tonite.
I really hope we can come back with a couple of goals a la oldham but not letting 1 in to go one beter
