I see you can buy them from the online store.

Has anyone done it? Obviously there is pretty much zero chance of a return on your investment but are there are any benefits? I'm stuck for gift ideas and getting desperate!

In the past if you bought £500 worth you could have a place on the board.

An Ex bought some for me about 15 years ago. Purely decorative really, quite expensive, and pretty much useless. The shares were ok though.

I was just about to ask what is the max you can buy??

I'm sure if you tried to buy say 500 the Club would be in touch straight away right?

Have a word with our race horse trainer who I believe only owns £500 worth.

He might give you a tip on how to get on the board .

Interesting...

As a public company, I'd be interested to know what authority limit there is on these shares. Creating shares needs board approval, and I guess they don't do that for each order on the store!

I guess most people buy them as a "gift" for the certificate, but these are shares in the company, so I personally think its irresponsible to just whack them on the website with this heading without properly explaining what it all means.

Wonder how many other clubs do it like this, without having a proper scheme for fan ownership.... i.e. see if we can fleece some fans for £100 for a "gift" and keep stum on everything else...

I suppose the things it can buy you are limited. The main thing being the right to attend the AGM and any other shareholder meetings that might crop up, and vote at them. Obviously unless you're into the hundreds of thousands your influence will be extremely limited.

I bought one share 6 years ago so that I can say I have shares in the club. I can also attend the AGM and have a say. Just something I always wanted to do. Cost me £100.

I should point out the shares are only worth £1 each but you have to buy them at  a multiple of 100.

Years ago you could buy them individually at a £1 but a £1 was worth a lot more in those days.

A few pints at the pub fish + chips on way home and still have plenty of change from your one pound note.

They are a gift to the club, as they are not worth the paper they are written on.

Unless you can find some person to buy them off you.

The club are now saying one share is worth £100 does that mean the 3 shares I paid £1 each for could be worth £300 if a certain person called Tom wants to buy them off me ?

You should try Message in a Bottle, I hear they're ok at sorting gift packs out. Owner's a bit of a chancer though so be wary.

I tell you what Pete.

I used to go out, get 20 ciggies, 2oz of Old Holban, A bottle of Whiskey for me, Chocolates and a nice bottle of wine for the Mrs and still have change from a fiver..  But you can't do that nowadays.

Bloody CCTV

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'
