Midfielder, 22 from Sunderland.

Good move IMO - clearly the way we helped develop Embelton is paying dividends.

Yeh reading about him on our official site sounds like he's everything people have been saying we should sign, an attacking mid who can also play holding mid and he's good at free kicks, which we've got a side that seems really well drilled on set peices but the delivery's havnt been too consistent

I hope he doesn't end up throwing any of those youngsters underneath any buses. Could badly curtail their careers.

Ethan Robson has completed a loan move to Sky Bet League Two club Grimsby Town.
The midfielder, who enjoyed a loan spell at Scottish side Dundee last term, will move to Blundell Park until January 2020.
Everyone at Sunderland AFC would like to wish Ethan the very best of luck at Grimsby.

The majority of Sunderland fans seem to think that he's good but has injury problems. Hopefully he's over those issues and can have at least three months here and does well for us. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/ethan-robson.1485158/ if you want to read.

Could be a good signing. Seems quite well thought of though I don’t like all those mentions about injuries.

Sounds like he is a somewhat gifted player but injury prone. Lets hope he can stay fit.

This comment intrigued me, any ideas wtf this means?

I think it has some resemblance to Mornington Crescent.

Mattie Pollock
Sebastian Ring
Luke Waterfall

Midfielders

Harry Clifton
Jake Hessenthaler
Elliott Whitehouse
Ethan Robson
Max Wright

Midfielders/Forwards

Jordan Cook
Moses Ogbu
Charles Vernam

Well they both a bit injury prone so hopefully can stay fit enough between them to cover one starting berth!

But welcome Robson, seems a highly rated player barring fitness issues... But the same was said of Hanson and that's going okay thus far (cue the jinx 😬)

To get the higher grade of player through the door that's the trade off/risk a club like Grimsby often has to take. I seem to remember Buckley doing similar - Southall, Burnett couple of examples that spring to mind.

Fantastic news - SO refreshing to get the type of player we were all craving

Most people: 'We need a creative midfielder type'

Jolley gets it done - fair play.

Ask and you shall receive!

Echo other peoples thought's on having belief on every single member of the squad on paper. Trying not to get too over-optimistic and dreamy-eyed but I've got a good feeling about this season...

I'm reasonably happy with our squad as it is. We're well stocked at centre back and I think all four are more than good enough for this level. I think in midfield with Hess, Whitehouse, Clifton, Cook and Robson we've got 5 good, hard working (hopefully in Robson's case) midfielders plus Hewitt as the back up. The forward three we are well stocked, our first choice three are as good as anyone's in the division (going off goals scored already) and we've got Wright, Rose and Vernam who all offer something off the bench or as back up.

Only at full back are we arguably a little light but Hewitt and Hendrie have both done extremely well so far. Hopefully they'll stay injury and suspension free but if they don't, we'll have to see how Ring and Gibson do. I certainly rate them over Paul Dixon and he was first choice for a long time! So we're miles ahead of where we have been since we came back in to the league. Whisper it quietly but things are looking promising.

All this talk about his injury problems must be old news,

I checked his game time at Dundee on loan and from Feb to May this year he played in all the games apart from maybe one.

I think it relates to the GIF the website put on twitter to announce - it was from a game called Coin Dozer... Basically a 2p arcade-type game.

We seem to have the strongest, most balanced squad for a very long time.  No doubt is we lose a couple, then the Jolley out brigade will return 😀

Dear Mr Jolley,

Would you please arrange for me to win tomorrow night's Euro Lottery.

There might be a couple of quid in it for you if you could.

Cheers,

I thought he was very good last night. Ben Pringle like left foot , good physique and plenty of energy. Always showing for the ball. To say he’s probably had one session with us and was playing in our fringe team I think we can be excited (as MJ clearly is) . Hanson could have a field day with balls coming in from hewitt, Hess and now robson. Looks a cut above , let’s hope he can stay fit

Yes, looks to have a decent left foot pass in him n pretty quick over the ground so looks like he can fit in to what seems to be the pattern n game plan for our midfield
