This should be a must for all football supporter, imho.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/268665

Details are as follows:

Legislate for the creation of an independent regulator for football

We petition HMG to legislate for the creation of an independent regulator for football and subsequently to oversee the implementation of such a body.

We assert that the finances and administration of football are in crisis, that self-regulation has failed and that, without a new independent body, there is a serious risk that clubs will begin to fold.

A year on from the government’s refusal of an independent regulator, the situation for clubs has deteriorated to the extent that we believe the decision needs review.

It's a no from me. Personally, I don't think there is a crisis. Bolton were the first EFL club to enter administration in over 6 years. And an EFL club hasn't gone out of business since 1962.

I have no sympathy for either Bury or Bolton. Bury especially. I fully agree with the Carlisle United manager. Bury cheated last season. It's financial doping. Minus 12 points is no punishment because their cheating means they are a division higher as things stand. The punishment for entering administration should be any promotion place being denied and demotion at the end of the season. If the club entering administration is relegated then they should be demoted a further division.

The EFL is a competition. It shouldn't have to act as legal guardian to all it's clubs as well. What the EFL should do is ensure fair play and that those who cheat do not advance at the expense of those who live within their means.

Didn't it happen to Maidstone in the 90s?

Yeah and Aldershot. Both in 1992. Even so, hardly suggests a crisis in EFL when no clubs have gone out of business in 27 years.
