Anyone had chance to watch this yet with our resident celebrity fan, Lloyd Griffith.

Excellent watch as he tries to double his money in 1 week. Won't give too much away but some of it is filmed locally.

Everytime you lose just double the stake on your next bet. When you eventually do win you will recoup what you have lost so far and also make a healthy profit.

Don't use this strategy for odds-on bets, because you will be down in the long run.

Matched betting is really good, but your accounts get restricted before long when the bookies notice you only bet using the offers or enhanced odds.

In casinos, the house wins in the long run. Same for online bookies. They always have an edge. Nothing long-term will work (unless you really put the hours in and, obviously, enjoy a bit of luck).

But I haven't watched the programme yet...

I know, this one was posted in jest. At least you'll need deep pockets to make this work when the inevitable losing steaks come.

A fun one to try, for a small outlay is to take a tenner and find a bet that you like that's around 1/2 odds on. Then you have £15 returns. Easy right? Now do the same with your £15, find a 1/2 odds on bet and so on. Reinvest your returns each time on a 1/2 odds on. You need to do this 18 times to get £15k, that's the target. I have tried it a few times and never got so far as the end but it's quite fun, and can string a tenner out for a few weeks.

I have a lot of success with first half goals. Due to time I don't analyse it as well as I could but it generally keeps my account needing fewer deposits.

I work on a match day so it is impossible to bet in play but you can make some serious profit timing these bets right. I place them as an accumulator for worse odds. I won £8 from a £2 4 fold on Saturday which gives me spending money for tonights fixtures. Scunthorpe let me down for £430 from 50p on the 20 fold.

I win the small bet more often than and usually let down by only a couple of teams on the 20 fold. I simply go through the fixtures and look at the first half league table. If both teams average more than 1 goal per game at home/away then I scribble them down and the best looking ones go in my bet. As it is the start of the season, I used last seasons league table. I generally avoid those with new managers but didn't with Scunthorpe!

I find the stats side very interesting and don't profess to be an expert but by doing it and placing accumulators, I come closer to winning a tidy sum than when I operated on my gut instinct. Another one I go with using the same method above is corners. I only started doing this during the last few games of last season but again, I come quite close.

Back to Lloyd's programme, it was interesting to see how it consumed his life. I'm disciplined and restrict myself to a maximum of £10 per week but when people stake huge sums, you can see how quickly it escalates. The dogs are very volatile and I can't believe that guy put on £700!

Have to say, the tennis was fascinating and it didn't take him long to get from £800 to over £3000!

It's on BBC 1 in about ten minutes, I haven't watched it yet so I'll give it a look.

Wonder how long it’ll be before they close this loophole down.

Basically, bookies are cnuts, who will change the rules when you start winning, but happy to take your bets if you mostly lose. The upshot of that programme was basically ‘no you can’t beat the bookies unless you are REALLY smart and do it as a full time business (but not many people have the know how)’.

I’d rather spend my money with drug dealers than bookies (Im talking about the big companies here, not the little guy making a living using old school methods). Morally they’re on that level. Football clubs who take their sponsorship money are basically whores infecting their punters.

I couldn't believe how much money that bloke was making, wasn't it something like 1 Million a year between him and his mate, 300k each after costs travelling the world.

I couldn’t either to look at him. But maybe he’s got some other habits to feed.

They say they hate bookies because they take your money when you lose and they restrict your account when you win... but if it weren’t for online gambling, that lad at the start who made his money from poker and that courtsiding bloke wouldn’t have hundreds of thousands of pounds in the bank.

In poker you're competing against other people. Different from betting on someone else you have no influence over.

The courtsider was making money in spite of bookies not because of them. If they could find a way to plug that loophole they would. Unless they’ve got a snide way of making money out of it themselves.

But taking money off other people was that lad's wake-up call, and the online bookies facilitated it. He doesn't play poker any more because he isn't morally comfortable with it, so presumably he puts poker players and bookies in the same bracket.

I do know what you mean... I just believe, for argument's sake, that if you took away online gambling companies overnight, a lot of these people who claim they're 'getting their own back' would suddenly lose their income.

Whether they'd like to admit it or not, their income depends on the existence of bookies... who take money off other people. That courtsider is no different from the poker player, in the sense that he's taking other people's money.

Sure is, there is a local lad does it  and he recently  bought his house from the proceeds . Biggest problem he has is investing his money  . You have to prove where it’s from and no one believes it’s from gambling

Yeah that’s a fair point about the source of the gambling money. If the online bookies closed down overnight I wouldn’t lose sleep over a few professional gamblers losing their income.

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

I won £4000 on a slot machine 4 years ago. £300 a few years back on Leicester to beat man City with Vardy to score fiirst.. That's the only time ive won 'big' ..
I used to Bet a lot but now it's £10-20 a month. So let's work it out. 12 years on an average of £40 a month.. 40 x 12 = £480. Times that by 12 years £480 x 12 = £6760.
So I'm roughly £1,460 down over 12 years... £1,460 ÷ 12 = £120ish a year. Actually not as bad as I expected but I was very lucky I got that 1 big win.

Yes but you could launder money by adding it to your account by one card and withdrawing with another. Although I think they’ve cracked down on this by only allowing withdrawals from the card you added money with.
