Do they have the internet in Scunthorpe, just asking as there seems to be hardly anyone posting on the Bru.
Welcome to the busiest Football forum in Lincolnshire and the only ones crawling has been done by the Scunts, never heard a pip from you lot up the road since you were formed until we went through our worst period in our history and rusty ironing club some how won the lottery and climbed out of the bottom of the pond you occupied for most of your clubs history.
Our day will certainly come again, and here's why, you can't keep a club like ours down. We get knocked down but we get up again, because we are Grimsby Town. The only double likely to happen at Glumford park is if you give us more tickets we'll double your normal gate.
The classic, bitter codhead response. Oh did you get knocked down as well, right in the doldrums of non league and I enjoyed every second of it. Regarding attendances, we sold out our away end at your crumbling ground and could have taken more to boost your gate too. Regardless what happens for the rest of the season, at least we beat you in your own backyard for the first time since 1969. UTI
It may be old and a tadge decrepit but there's one thing it ain't, it's certainly not a souless sess pit like Glumford Park... As for bitter codheads, lets just say this, it was you jumping on a Grimsby Town forum to have your twopenneth, if we were bitter we'd be on iron bru having a right old pop. Personally I don't want to see Scunny out the league, the fans interaction and rivalry makes for a great atmosphere, just wish your players understood the meaning of respect and decorum. And to that end .."The Sands Venue Stadium"....that's up there with worst named grounds alongside "The Sports Direct Arena"...you can't tell me as fans the renaming went down well...

Myself personally, not bitter but certainly seems to be a genuine mutual hatred of each other, but it is what local rivalries are all about. Agree with you regarding Lincoln, absolutely irrelevant with until they went on that FA Cup run and had the Cowleys. Thousands of 'fans' seemed to come out the woodwork then. Interesting to hear your thoughts on Hull, especially considering we have finished above you in the league since 2005 so that must be an even more depressing thought for you. Loved playing the mud rats, especially at Boothferry Park. Proper old school ground and a rivalry i rank alongside playing Grimsby. Lincoln and Donny don't come close.
Oh yeah, I agree with you, we've had to consign the rivalry with Hull as a thing from the past. By doing that, Scunny is definitely our biggest rivalry nowadays in reality. Hull are selling players for £20m, and we're feeding from scraps every season. I used to know someone from Donny and he was shocked when I told him of our rivalry with Scunny - he thought it was just them, so it's interesting to hear you're not that bothered about them. As for Lincoln, they seem to really despise us both, for some reason. The word 'bitter' applies to them, even now they're comfortably above both of us. So let's agree, neither Town nor Scunny are bitter - they just HATE one another!

I wouldn't say it is a soulless cess pit, our terrace is old school and was rocking in the glory days of winning League One and being in the Championship. I nip on here every now and then as it interests me to see what is getting said by our rivals. Appreciate you saying you don't want to see us drop out the league, as much as we hate each other the world is a better place when we play each other, cracking atmospheres. Regarding KVV, it is give or take. I recall John-Lewis ssshhing us when he scored at our place for you in the FA Cup. You lot would be loving it if it was one of your players doing what van Veen did. Baffled by your manager Holloway's comments though, clearly absolutely triggered him. Be interesting when we play you at our place. Regarding The Sands Venue Stadium, it will always be known as Glanford Park to us. Was purely done for financial fair play reasons which as we are finding out, we are in a mess. UTI

I've been watching Grimsby since 1972 and I think in that time we've only played Hull in league games about half a dozen times. We have drawn them a couple of times in The League Cup though (back when they were 2-legged games) and played them a couple of times in the lesser cup games. We were rarely in the same Division, we were always above them until just after the turn of the century. I think the season we were last relegated from the 2nd tier in 2003 was the same season that they were promoted and they've obviously gone onto bigger and better times whilst we've been languishly in the lower divisions and non-league. Would be great to get back that league rivalry again but whether that will happen anytime soon is anyone's guess. Ideally it'll be the season after next in League One.

Wow, never thought I would be agreeing with a codhead, I'll drink to that later! Regards to Donny, there is a rivalry but they seem more bothered about us than we are them. Grimsby and Hull has always being the one. Rivalry with Lincoln too but not played them in a long time.

HATE is a very strong word for football rivalry. Dislike yes, but I could never hate anyone that I have never met.

There's a difference between a'shushing' gesture to fans behind the goal you have just scored in and what Van veen did. He actually scored at the away end, then, before celebrating with the Scunny fans, he ran over to the side stand to taunt our supporters. I always smile when Town fans give some player dogs abuse and then get all upset when said player scores and shushes or cups ear to them. I don't have a problem with any player doing that. But Van veen was totally over the top. If there had been a serious incident it would have been due to his provocation. The guy is no doubt a good player, but IMHO is a pr1ck. I suspect that he actually thrives on abuse (as some do) and personally would love to see him totally ignored at Glumford. But I suspect that ain't going to happen. UTM

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

I was there that day, right next to what looked like your 'naughty corner' watching them take about 5 minutes to unveil a big Grimsby Town flag To be fair KVV put his finger up as if to say " Be right back, just off to wind that lot up first" He did end up coming back over to celebrate with us, not seen scenes like that in an away end watching Scunny for years. KVV is very much a player you'd love on your team but hate him when he is against you. He has the talent to perform in the Championship but in the past has being guilty of inconsistency and his attitude. You're absolutely right, he thrives off the abuse and Holloway's comments have just added fuel to the fire. I have no doubt if he scores against you again, he will go over to Holloway and dish it out to him and rightly so. UTI
