Their opening game v MK Dons called off by the EFL. Already deducted 12 points, looks like their could be plenty more trouble ahead for them.

Bury haven't been chosen in The Fishy Buster yet but if anyone does pick their number I will let them choose another one as it looks like their forthcoming games could be called off to.

Bolton have been cleared to go ahead with their fixtures but they too will start the season on -12.

They've cleared Bolton to play though.

On the Trotters, the EFL added: "The board has fully considered the club's further submissions and is satisfied that they are sufficient to meet the requirements of the league, subject to the completion of formal documentation.

"As a result the EFL board has opted not to suspend their opening day fixture with Wycombe Wanderers and it will remain as originally scheduled."

A slight bit of good news for Bury today.

Doesn't sound as if the EFL are being much of an assistance.  The way i see it a CVA has been agreed with creditors but it could be the EFL that actually make them bankrupt and then all creditors wont get paid.  If i were a Creditor, i'd not be happy with that.
Thought the EFL would have been more helpful.
So much money on players in the Premiership dwarf our clubs financial positions.  Money needs to pass down the leagues or our National side will suffer more as clubs fold.
Action needed now or in years to come we'll regret it.

Seen a few pics of bury fans supporting Oyston winding up Blackpool fans , and read about them laughing at Oldham nearly going under .. so fuckk em I say

They’ve been financially doped and taken someone else’s promotion place with a squad they couldn’t afford. Feel for the fans etc etc but they’ve cheated. They also have previous. I think liquidating them may be best for everyone.

Saving Bury will do nothing to redistribute money through the league. It will just reward unsustainable spending.

And I’ve no sympathy with the fans. I’m not aware of any protests when they spent their way to promotion.

Too right

only problem is its already impacting on every other club...by having games cancelled it will have an effect on other teams...that could be an adverse effect where teams will have to shoehorn in another fixture later in the season.
The EFL need to act quickly, they are either in and the EFL support them through it or they bin them off.  I suspect the EFL will be sat hoping a miraculous resolution appears this week to save them having to make a landmark decision.

I do agree with this. Bury going bust could change football for the better.

I wonder if the Neville brothers being involved in Salford City effectively means they cannot legally lift a finger to help Bury?

Bit different though. That was money we were contractually going to receive.

I see that that the EFL have stated that should it prove necessary to expel Bury, then League 1 will continue with just 23 clubs, and 5 clubs will be promoted from League 2 at the end of the season to make up the numbers for 2020-21.

At least they could have argued that they had a reasonable expectation of it coming through though? At the time I did think about getting a decoder box but it was an idea built on sand in the end.

Bury just blew money which they should have known wasn't sustainable.
