I read today that Wimbledon have gone away  from having their ground names by some sponser ,

They are selling £10 tickets to their fans to name the ground in their name for one game and stands , bars , toilets, ect  and hope to raise £7 million.

Maybe town should do something along these lines for our new ground.

Agree ?

Selling 700,000 tickets at a tenner a go is ambitious for a club with a core fanbase of about 5,000.

I see what you're saying, something along those lines is a good idea but you have to be careful especially if you was to change the name of the ground every other week! 😏

BARRETTS STAND.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I think they will be selling tickets every week so over the season they might  get close to that figure .

Edit       over several seasons I should have said,

In fairness to the Charles Koppel’s and Pete Winkelman’s of this world, the problem wasn’t anything to do with their maths skills but rather their complete lack of understanding of the world of football.

In any other line of business, the concept of moving from a small catchment with lots of competition close by to a much larger catchment with little local competition makes perfect sense. But football isn’t like any other line of business.

If I want some milk or some bread, I’ll go to the nearest shop. Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose (ooh, get me) - I couldn’t really care less. Football fans aren’t like that.

What the forces behind MK failed to recognise or understand were that when you move a club from it’s spiritual home, those who have followed it for years will not just blindly follow. And those in the club’s new home; well they either already support another club or don’t care much for football, neither of which makes them great candidates to become your new ‘customers’.

It’s for these reasons that 15 years on they remain lower league fodder, rattling around in a smart but 85% empty stadium every other week. Maybe, a generation or three down the line, when the memories of what went on begin to fade, they may have a chance of fulfilling their supposed potential, but that will hopefully be too late for anyone involved in the move to profit.

Fúck em, I say.

I don't know the outline of this plan, let alone the details, but seeing how that club has developed since it was founded just 17 years ago would lead me to believe they have got it right somehow.

To start the thing (the club) was an audacious adventure in the first place. Then to create a scheme whereby they raised the capital to buy the lease for Kinsgmeadow. None of which was done with a sugar daddy. Just the application of brains and understanding business and their support.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
