Tommy was long gone when George came to the club.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

RIP  George

A favourite of mine and often underrated.  He was a big man and good with his head , but he also had

excellent ball skills.

In his day I used to stand in the Osmond end right behind the goal.

When he missed a chance ,you couldn't hear him, but you could lip read his exclamation  "illegitimates ".

Town Legend.

I can remember George working for Paddy Hamilton (ex chairman) at Manor Hardware when George retired from football - he carried bags of coin from the slots. A different world where you looked after your own.

George was a real trier who did the simple things well, a whole hearted footballer who delighted everybody. So sadly missed. RIP George.

God bless you George, always remember your friendly banter when I was a kid, especially when you took me to George Higgins house for a glass of coke and special autographs, you will always be remembered by me, a definite 180 in heaven.

RIP George a great player and great guy.

I guess George must have been signed to replace Ralph Hunt, as he played up to 1961 and George from 1962. I was surprised to see that Ralph died at the age of 31.
