We all felt like this last season and then got thumped 1-4 on the opening day
I know what you mean, and Bradford will be favourites for that game, but in general, personally I felt at the beginning of the last 2 seasons we had weak squads, and that we'd struggle. I didn't feel like that in our 1st season back up, and I don't think it this season either, so I'm more optimistic this time.

My Dad doesn't plan to renew his for the first time in 30-odd years, regardless of who holds the reins of power at the club. He still plans to go to plenty of games, however, but he's missed half a dozen in each of the past few seasons so it isn't worth his while getting one.
I'll buy one near the end of the discount period, the same as usual.

- We didn't end the season on a high with the Jolley effect as a boost
in reality most just want to see the team do well and don't really care who is in charge.
You do have two valid points there. However, Ending a season on a high doe to narrowly avoiding relegation to NON LEAGUE YET AGAIN shows how low our sights are set nowadays. If the team had done/was doing well fans wouldn’t be bothered about the regime running the club. But sadly this has never happened under JF’s watch. I would wager a large sum that if a successful takeover bid was announced today, season ticket sales would soar. Even you must realise that.

Without doubt but would it be simply because of the regime change alone or because people think just narrowly escaping relegation will not be next seasons result. Will a regime change necessarily affect results or, given the signings already, might we finish higher up the league even if Fenty stays

I think you are spot on. It would be purely a statement by fans fed up of the current board. My fear is that people may equate regime change with instant success, which (if the current bid is accepted) I doubt will happen. But. I would feel a lot more secure with new custodians as I do feel relative success could be achieved in time. But if the current regime remains I seriously fear for the future of GTFC.

Great news, really pleased things are picking up. At the very least, I think there’ll be 8,000 there against Bradford. Huge game so early. A win in that game and it might add a thousand to the following gate.
Quite exciting times now with the business that MJ has done.
8,000 against Bradford, with a win, followed by an extra 1,000 in for the following home makes 9,000 - I don't think the ground holds that many!

I'll have to agree with you there Swin (WHAT That's why I take exception to Penny's claim that everyone who's unhappy with the club right now are anti-Fenty, and somehow projecting this onto others ( ) The majority of those unhappy fans are just tired and jaded after 15 years of the same dross/upheaval/false dawn/back to dross.cycle. I doubt there's more than a handful of people who are hanging onto their ST money, ready to part with it ONLY when John Fenty exits. I'd wager however that there is a huge number of people umming and aah'ing over it who will be pushed over the line to buy their ticket should this takeover happen and we can begin with a fresh outlook for the season. That's a positive and pretty accurate spin on the situation, we just need this all to go through now.

What happens if we win the next game as well? Another 1k on top of the 9k ???

I think he meant to say minus the extra 2000 fans that Bradford would bring over and above what other clubs would bring. So 7,000 for the next game. But yes the ground does hold 9,000 plus.
