And another one! I'm not sure if I can cope with all this positive transfer activity I'm not used to it

Where do you think Jolley sees him fitting in the squad?

Next to Hessenthaler?

Looks like a good Box to Box. Think he will be competing with Clifton for a place in the team. Some much needed height in midfield aswell. Welcome aboard.

From my Notts supporting mate:

“Good player if used correctly. If you play long and direct will get some knock downs and score a few from midfield. Decent on the ball and works it out to the wings quite well. Down sides are has very little pace and tended to fade in games a bit but we tried to play him as a box to box type midfielder and he just hasn't got it in him.

Could go either way. Probably won't be a revelation though mate.”

A good player, who may well be utility to fill in at full back or midfield when needed. Promising signs with the level of player we're signing.

It seems as if MJ may be getting his number 1 targets so far, instead of having to go for options B, C, D, E...

The players signed so far, have all suggested that MJ started the conversation with them a while back. Good work all.

Unless he's trying the old nightclub routine of going for option B first.

May not be the kind of stellar signing we all dream of but hopefully a good utility man to help the squad over a long arduous campaign -useful to have. More height too which needed addressing and the option there to send him more forward if an aerial bombardment needed at times. Though hopefly that a Plan C not our 'A' game.

I’m pretty sure that when we beat them 4-0 last season, Hewitt had handbags with Thomas and as Hewitt approached the referee, the County fans were chanting “off off off!”

A couple of mammaries have said he’s crap, but only to be expected given their season. Most on their forum speak highly of him. Says a lot. If he’s to be used as a holding midfielder I think he’ll surprise a few.

Changing tack a bit
With Hewitt signing and Sowunmi (spelling?) seemingly on MJ radar does that mean Davis will be going?
Unless I've missed something Davis still not signed a new deal??

We had an option on Davies to extend the contract for 1 year. I believe this was taken. It was more speculation about him being transferred earlier this month I think. Hewitt is mostly a centre mid so I do not think it changes his situation much.

Davis had his contract extended for a year. He's still with us, was in the training pictures yesterday.

I don't think so, We've lost Collins and Whitmore from last year's squad and Hewitt looks more like a centre mid

Davis had an option in his contract that we used, so doesn't need to be announced...

Think MJ had a plan last season - to play nice passing football where possible, and be good to watch.
However he lost his main signing in the midfield before the season started, then lost his replacement in Embo due to injury.
We had to change formation, and it just wasn't as hoped.
I think he realised that league 2 is a lot more physically than maybe he expected.

So with a summer of backing from the board, he's addressing the issues we all noticed during the course of the season.

I'm not saying we are going to get in the play-offs, but he seems to be signing the players we all were crying out for last season.

And if every notts county fan was positive about Hewitt, and he didn't have any negatives, he would be in league 1 or higher...

Don't think the Grimsby Telegraph reported this.

Surely in GY it will be Ogbu-y?

Or maybe Oggy Oggy Oggy!

Could Hewitt play the role in front of the defence that MJ originally wanted Welsh to play last year? The difference being Hewitt is actually mobile and can play other midfield roles too if needed.
