From that we can infer that we are in the market for a first choice left back and centre back. No number 4 which would indicate a holding midfielder/defender.

I still dont understand why Whitehouse is No. 10 when he isn't a "No. 10" if you know what I mean. IIRC he was No. 4 at Lincoln.

That's like saying 20 is double number 10. It's squad numbers and nowadays bears little reflection on position.

I agree! I couldn't care one jot nor tittle what number a player has on his shirt as long as he does the business. It's a bit like the " what coloured socks should the players wear " scenario - just insignificant trivia. I go to watch a football game not a fashion parade or an exercise in numerology.

I’m just glad we didn’t have squad numbers when I played local league.


In fact, in honour of me when I finally hung up my boots, they retired the number ‘12’ shirt 😄


The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
