In other news.

After no goals until near 90 mins, 5 goals in 9 mins!  England out though as Rumania got 3.

Lost in the cricket as well.

Putting your best player, the lad who scored a worldie last week on the bench didn't help. I'd sack the manager. Boothroyd thinks he's clever, far from it.

Sad to say I agree, he arguably had one of the stronger squads at his disposal and has massively under performed.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Boothroyd is a big mate of Kev Donavan

Well leaving out Foden was stupid and so apparently were his substitutions the other day after the sending off.

But still, they lost this game because the players made catastrophic mistakes at the back not because of the manager. Perhaps they are not as good as they think they are?

I read an article last week that Henderson is a ready made replacement for de Gea at Man U. He certainly proved that with the third Rumanian goal last night - the Man U fans won't be able to tell the difference.

I saw this game on foreign TV  whilst on holiday....

Weird game!!!

Henderson was awful, at fault for 2 goals, and similarly tomori  gifted them a couple of efforts with weak clearances.  The other centre half was anonymous, think the commentators forgot his name. But surely it's the manager largely at fault for picking such a lightweight midfield, and for leaving his best options on the bench.

What even was the formation? 4 3 2 1?
Was very unimpressed by mount dowell and maddison, but perhaps they lacked a holding midfielder

Abraham was awesome for ten mins as a sub, he seemed unplayable. Foden was great too, underused.

Romania played on the counter and scored from almost all their attacks!

Boothroyd was an old-school long ball merchant when  he was a club manager, and I was surprised when he got the under-21 job. He needs sacking. This squad should be getting to the final, not going out in the group stage. His selections have been sh#t.

He has just got a new contract hasn’t he? He has been in charge of U18/19/20 and 21 sides with Southgate so he could argue he has helped the current full side.
