| When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?” |

I still hope a takeover happens but can anyone explain to me what's in it for Schutes ???
What does anyone get out of owning a football club that at best can break even?

And for what it's worth I don't think the deal is dead at all. Tom Shutes' interest is dependent on a new stadium being deliverable. He doesn't want to buy the club and stay at BP even in the short term. Agreeing a deal for land with ABP and exchanging contracts will unlock everything in my opinion. I don't think anybody really believes Tom Shutes is going to buy GTFC with his own money in the bank. He will have investors lined up. Their strategy will be to buy the club, deliver the new stadium, tap in to all the untapped revenue that GTFC don't currently, improve the footballing fortunes of the club and end up with a much more valuable business which they could potentially sell on for a good profit. The funding won't be in place until the new stadium site is signed off. It will come.
I would imagine Shutes will be hoping that a new stadium will be open by August 2021 or 2022 at the latest. He won't mess around.

I still don't understand where the money is coming from for a new stadium. If we couldn't get the money for Peaks Parkway and we couldn't get the money for Freemo how come we can suddenly get the money for the docks. It doesn't matter what we want if there is no goose to lay the golden egg we ain't going anywhere. It seems to me that there are a lot of people dreaming at the moment and that if they dream enough it will become a reality. Actually I think a lot of people are suffering from D.R.C.

Plenty of clubs around our size have built new stadiums. How did they finance their stadium[s]? Maybe the real question should be, why couldn't Fenty ever get the finance together to build a new stadium?

I imagine lots of people will have got their news from the boardroom. I would certainly take the no money rumours with a pinch of salt. It’s an easy way to explain that little is happening for the board and put the pressure on Shutes.
Whatever happens this whole episode proves without doubt that people are interested in taking the club on.

Exactly. Golfers post captures all that is wrong with the club currently , there is such little belief, will or drive in so many to even get this ship off the rocks. I can't recall any opposition fans, ever, reacting to news of a potential new stadium with "What! get outta here!. A new ground? Pfft..that'll cost millions that we haven't got AND there's nowhere to put it! " What a club. Dying on its ar$e and can't be sold. Can't get a new ground.
